TIM RUSSERT DIES FROM APPARENT HEART ATTACK

    By CHARLES HURT

    Tim Russert

Our Sunday mornings will not be the same. I always looked forward to Tim's wise commentary. Cheers instead of tears. He was a fine man...

Tim Russert, NBC journalist and political heavyweight host of "Meet the Press," has died after collapsing at NBC's Washington news bureau, a source said. He was 58 years old.
Russert, who rose from the inside world of politics where he was former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo's press secretary and one-time chief of staff to the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, was able to successfully cross over to political journalism and rise to become one of its leading lights.
In his role as host of the seminal Sunday morning political program "Meet the Press" - which he took over in 1991 - he became renowned for his hard-nosed interviews where he frequently cornered some of Washington's cagiest political figures with tough questions.
Russert joined NBC News in 1984. In April 1985, he supervised the live broadcasts of the Today program from Rome, negotiating and arranging an appearance by Pope John Paul II - a first for American television. In 1986 and 1987 Russert led NBC News weeklong broadcasts from South America, Australia and China.
In 2008, Time Magazine named him one of the world's 100 most influential people.

I really enjoyed the talent of this guy......he will not be replaced easily in his massive talent in the political arena.

This guy could make any politician uncomfortable....left or right and make them ALL chirp like a bird and squeal like pigs.

He was welll liked and well respected which says a lot. I would like to think he had an underlying medical condition which was not made public rather than dismissing his health and working too much. Fifty eight is way too young nowadays, he will be missed.

Even my girlfriend liked watching him and she hates politics. losing him and Bill Buckly in the same year is a shame.

I watched Meet the Press this morning and it was rough........rough being that you knew someone was going to lose it, and Tom Brokaw almost did.

Very sad.....you know that whole group is hurting badly. The guy was bigger than life....gave every notion that he was a family man, loved his religion and one of the most loyal buffalo new york fans ever.

I would say..........just guessing, Tom Brokaw will fill the spot for a bit......have no clue who will be the true replacement.

            Curiousity question:

This site is notorious for talking about guns.....I post the death of Charlton Heston.....little if no response.

This site ALWAYS has a political conversation going on.....I post the death of Tim Russert......the voice of political debate and discussion.....little if no response.

            Something really strange about that.

I dunno. I really liked Charlton Heston and Tim Russert. Both seemed like stand-up guys and their passing is a shame; but I don't have much to add beyond that.

I think I might be motivated enough though to get Russert's books on fatherhood from the library though. The exceprts and discussion I've heard while he was on the Sean Hannity show were pretty interesting.

For those of us in that age catagory, when this kind of thing happens it makes you think. Unfortunatly I ignored all the warning signs for years untill last January when it all caught up with me. I was damned fortunate to be in the right place at the right time when it struck. I guess Mr. Russert wasn't. Just goes to show you that all the fame and fortune doesn't mean a thing to the man upstairs.

God Bless you Tim. You were a good man who did great things. You will be missed.
