We saw fireworks tonight They have them at one of the local city colleges the Saturday before the 4th. 4 hours of waiting for 15 minutes of fireworks-its fun! We bring a potluck picnic and hang with friends.
wow 15 minutes the ones around here are 30 to 45 min long
I heard he's got a lot of work.Making a lot of money.
I give thanks to this amazing forum for the comradery and advice we give to each other to help one keep confidence in our abilities to go out and make something of ourselves and provide.
Doing the doggy paddle with Charlie sounds like fun but we are having a belated graduation party for my niece, Liesel
She will be joining her brother at Virginia Tech University
The son of my good friend Sue is going there now. Such a big school, I doubt they know each other though.
We're going to a friend's house in WVA for the 4th. Fireworks and croquet on his big nice lawn. He's also got a pool so we can lounge around in between the games. Some of us are staying in tents around the grounds (he has 6 acres backed up to National Forest), some are staying in the house. Mainly it's a chance to get away from cell phones and such. And we already have about 30lb of smoked pork to take!! I'll probably stop at one of the local farm stands and get the corn.
I put it all back together better than before. There\'s lots of leftover parts.
We went to a 40th b-day party/ 4th of July cookout. The honoree works for my boss' mechanical division. I did the underground plumbing for the tool shed/shop the party was in, so I got a lot of props. I only ate 4 hamburgers over 5 hours, so I was kinda disappointed in myself. My boys bounced on a trampoline for hours and chased around the goats. The neighbor has a mini herd of goats, and gave one to Paul for his birthday. They are in the city limits, but on the far north edge of town, both houses are zoned agriculteral, so the goats are cools with the authorities. Then we went across the street and watched a private fireworks display in a hayfield, about 35 minutes long, amazing. The temp topped about about 75 degrees, sunny and breezy, a perfect day, the coolest 4th of July I can remember. I think this global warming is bullshit. Today is my dad's 73rd b-day. I live about 3/4 of a mile from him. We will go down there later on, what a great weekend, what a great country!
hope you all have a good long weekend and enjoy so good food and time with friends
i think we are going down to my friends farm having a cook out with corn cooked on the grill [ you cut the top and bottom off the ear of corn then put it in a bucket of watter for an hr then put on grill and cook until corn is soft ]
I put corn in salt water then continue with the above statement.
we lit some fireworks a little early for the kids and after we were done, the big show started. Several families in the neighborhood buy $1000 worth of fireworks, have the street blocked off and light away until midnight. It's the same families that compete with their halloween decorations and they get crazy!
