  • Great Deals on SD and SDHC Memory Cards

For those of us that own a digital camera here are some great deals this weekend only on SD type memory cards. Before placing an order be very sure they are computable with your camera. Check the owner's manual and you would do well to check the manufacturer's web site of your camera just to be sure these will in fact work. Normally these sell for lots more. J & R is having a big special this weekend on more than just these. They are a huge New York based company and are far from being a fly by night business. I personally am grabbing some of them up for friends and myself. We made sure they will work. What's cool is that with a USB 2 card reader you can use them as a flash drive for data transfer from one computer to another at a different location. When done just format them. One word of warning is that if you format them on your computer be sure to reformat them in your camera before use. The formatting is not quite the same.

Please note that I'm not getting one cent for posting this and I do not work for J & R. I've saved money doing business with them for a long time. They have not let me down. They aren't a place for people that don't know exactly what they want. You need to know exactly what you want to buy before going to their web site, but if you do know what you want, be sure to check their pricing before you buy from places such as Best Buy or Circuit City. The same for buying from Ritz Camera. In many cases the J & R price will be lower. They are great for CDs, DVDs and basic computer and audio related products.

I hope my posting this can help save forum members some good $$$.

Another place that has saved me good money on electronics, especially computer related items is ProVantage.

All you need is a MasterCard or VISA credit card and you can buy from them or from J & R. Be warned that both places ship by FedEx or UPS and you must have a valid and confirmed street address. RD Box numbers are fine. AFO and PO boxes along with situations where you can't sign for boxes simply won't work out.

Update: With the ProVantage web site enter the brand and model number into their search engine or just try prowling around. They have huge stock on many items and pull out of several warehouses.

If you watch SanDisk there have also been some really good deals. So far I bought 3-4 GB Extreme III SDHC cards with MicroMate readers at $7.00 each after a $100 rebate and 3-2 GB Extreme III SD cards for $8.33 each after a $50 rebate. So the total was $46 for 6-Extreme III cards and 3-readers.
