  • Quitting Plumbing...

Have any of you ever made a complete transition into another field from your lifetime/long occupied one?

    Examples:

    Quit carpentry-became an accountant?
    Quit electrical-became a scientist?
    Quit plumbing-went back to stripping?

I liked distancing myself away from it for awhile, that was stress relieving but now I'm back into it, even though I'm trying to run 2 other businesses right now.

Plumbing is the king of cash flow in my opinion.

Between a couple calls and some jobs I never collected on, I mustered a grand to put in the bank to cover a truck payment yesterday.

I usually don't like working off the wire but I'll say that for the record, I can be real efficient when I'm shoestringing on limited funds. The final product still emerges in a decent light...but of a more safeguarded one at that.

Hmmmm.... Medical Advice. Got me thinking....

Maybe I could start a clinic that caters only to tradesmen.

All I would need is a case of Ducttape and paper towels.

And a nurse to repeat over and over, "Shut the hell up and quit your complaining."

The waiting room could have blocks of wood for them to drive nails in while they wait for carpenters.

                  Fishing games for electricians.

A big sandbox, 1 piece of pipe, and a level for plumbers.

And of course a retired inspector to keep them all busy correcting things until it's there turn for "treatment".

I am curious why would you consider quitting plumbing?
                      The hours are bad?
                      The smell is getting old?
                      Not enough money for you?
                      Health problems?
Or maybe you are so rich that you will retire early?

Have other interests that I could make a living at besides plumbing.
                        What smell?
                        Moneys ok.
                        Healths ok.
Retire early? Let's just say I'm not bathing in popcorn.
