  • ever meet anybody famus?

when i was the fire chief for the volunteer dept. up here we got a call to respond to the airport. aircraft in distress.

the info i received from flight services was that a canadian built challenger blew a engine and threw all the parts out the rear.

the aircraft landed with no problem. i wiped the frozen sweat from my face and walked to sleek jet.

i walked up the stairs and came face to face with an elderly man about 6' with white hair. we shock hands.

i was checking the crew to see if they were exhibiting any signs of mental/physical distress. also to get the all-clear.

the captian was calmer than calm ().

he introduced himself as Max Ward.

i introduced myself as Vince the fire chief (up here we don't usually introduce ourselves with our last name).

in case your wondering, i still haven't clued in on who this guy is at this point.

we both walked over to the fight service station. i needed pertinent information to complete my report.

mr Ward, gets on the horn and calls his office. he says to the person on the other end of the phone to send "the lear" up to rankin.

in case your wondering, now i'm starting to get juuuuust a little curious as to who this guy is.

max left the room for some reason and the fight service specialist says to me, "do you know who that is?"

    i say,"yeah, max ward."

the flight service guy says,"Max Ward, the former owner of Ward Air." caaaalick!!

i would have loved to stick around a chat with him but i had to get back to the fire hall.

In 1984 I worked as a dishwasher in Hansa Ton Studios in Berlin and I met Richard Zatorski from Real Life (their hit then was Send Me an Angel), who introduced me to Sting, whom I kinda heard about.

When I lived in NYC, I played bridge and my partner was one older lady. Very short and pretty... well... filthy.

A few months after I moved to Canada I was surprised to see her on TV and learn she was the famous Dr. Ruth.

                so i called joey

joey, "it's this little red head singer with a real southern twang"

you mean "reba mcintyre" yeah, that's right.

very nice and sweet. i'm not sure if she knew i knew who she was

plenty of others, but that's for another day

Like Rick I live in the world of glitter so I have worked for a ton of Celebrities. Some of them I have just said hello to while others I have sat and chatted with. In addition, I have a son who pals around with a bunch of celebrities so I've spent major time with some of them. One which I probably enjoy the most is Shaq. He is just a big over grown kid and a fun guy to be around.

The two guys I met who I was the most impressed with was during one of our motorcycle rallies which was held at the same Airport Hotel as a WW II Air Show was held. I met two of the original Tuskegee Airman. They were small in stature but I felt like I was amongst giants.

Hey I've referred a lot of people down there at that eatery.

I'd be on my second bypass if I was closer and that was a stone's throw.

Why do I look like a fish on a hook?

Of course no one got the picture of me tying the cherry stem in a knot in under 10 seconds
