  • Smorris' bathroom project photos

Y'all may remember the previous threads where I was inquiring about toilets and tubs

I thought I'd post some photos of the progress as we go

    Before. Definitely the '70s

Everything pulled out ready for the tub

Bill, Mike, and Jeff hard at work

    Ready for the new floor

    As it is today

Next up is to put the two receptacles above the vanity, add a box to hang the light (just loose wires now), then finish the drywall, paint, and towel bars, rugs, etc.

More progress photos here. Just click on the thumbnail to see a larger image, and then on that larger image to see an even bigger one up to the full 2.5 MB original (by clicking "O") Note that there are multiple pages, so be sure to see them all.

    Looks good!

Did they set the base of that tub in a bed of mortar?

That's a must have for those fiberglass units...whether the mfg. recommends for or against it.

Looks like a Sterling/Vikrell unit. I've installed many and they hold up very well.

    EDIT

I traced through some of your threads regarding this install. You'll like the Champion 4, so far no problems on that new flush tower.

I was close on the brand name, Sterling.

The tub/shower valve looks like a ???? Looks like a Kohler, same as the lavy?

I like the old cat-crap yellow colored fixtures. What the hell kind of color-schemes were designers pushing back in the 70s? It seems that any color that made people sick was the "IN" thing. Avocado, and that cat-crap yellow, etc, etc. Too much drug-use going on back then.

        I don't know. I wasn't home.

        Yes, a Sterling Advantage.

Thanks for all the great praise Steve and sorry I have not been on the forum as of late.
Rick Mike is feeling much better now he ended up having a surgury around that time. He had his gall bladder taken out . From what he tells me he is OK now other than being able to eat McDonalds for lunch any more.
