  • Plumbing done by a non plumber

Found this on a remodel I'm doing. This is the type of plumbing I generally see done by contractors that say, "I can do plumbing or I can do everthing from the slab to the roof I don't need to hire a plumber. I can do it myself.

Did the same hack do the heating and the electrical, or was it some other hacks?

That piping is all strained into position, and years from now when it gets hard and brittle, that piping will shear off at the fittings,

and those homeowners will wonder why it even happened.

Certainly not a Betty Crocker moment, that's for sure.

When I see pictures like that, I am always glad that I own a nice sawzall. It makes short work of hack work.

Maybe Ridgid could use that as a marketing slogan for their sawzall?

While there are a few general contractors that are knowledgeable in the areas needed to do a good job on a house. There are ten times that number that hack their way through a job.

I'll bet if we could get an honest census we would find the same ratio of plumbing contractors or master plumbers who can not do better.I've personally seen examples in the field and on the forum.

The only difference being that here most,if not all,of us are striving to be the best we can to educate ourselves to know the difference between this example and doing better.

We don't have inspections in the county,(outside city limits) wish there was it would cut alot of hacks from taking work from me.

Instead of securing the Romex to the studs, they are using the Romex to secure the stud on the right of the picture. I didn't notice that the first time round.

no inspectors What about checks and balance? So there is no proof of anyone pulling a permit or anything?
                        I love my plumber

No permits so no need for inspectors.
Now you are required as a builder in a subdivision to pull a building permit only, no plumbing, (unless sewer/water provide by city) gas, electrical, or hvac.
The work in the pics was done several years ago.
