  • -40 plus a 100mph wind = -what??

i'm just curious what the wind chill factor would be for this.

the reason i'm asking is the young people up here have snowmoibles capable of going a 100mph.

    Vince

    my math isn't that good

Vince, If the -40 is farenheit we are looking at -99.5, or -73.1 celcius, if its -40 celcius we are looking at the same?

At least that is what this website said!!

    http://www.srh.noaa.gov/elp/wxcalc/windchill.shtml

    The formula is :

    windchill (in degrees farenheit)=
    35.74+(0.6215*T)-35.75(V^0.16)+0.4275T(V^0.16)

Where T=Temperature in degrees Farenheit and V=Wind velocity

i just wanted to see if you were paying attention.

is it true that the human brain can calculate math problems faster than a calculator?

You arent Kidding.... At -40 degrees and only 15 MPH of wind windchill is a -71, with frostbite setting in after a mere 5 minutes of exposure!!!

              mine.

yu know, i think i'm getting ripped off and our local lumber store.

              i bought a 8ft 2x4 the other day.

oh yeah, it was 8ft long all right.

no matter how many times i measured it, it was only 1 3/4" x 3 3/4".

do they shrink that much or do i have to buy another tape measure.

              Vince

it could also be those new metric 2 x 4's i've been hearing about for the past couple of years.

i entered a snowmobile race when i was a youger man up here.

it was -40 and still. lots of ice crystals.

we averaged between 60 -80 mph.

even though i was wearing a down filled face mask, my running nose fluid froze to my cheek.

                i loved it.

Its suppose to be 1 1/2" x 3 1/2"....... I guess it never had time to shrink....

I just checked. If it's -40° with a 100 MPH wind - my calculations indicate it's time to get your butt inside!!!
