Re: Help Me Out Guys = Broadband Speed

      I ran it four times.

The first time had an download of 4229 and an upload of 367.

The last time had a download of 4895 and an upload of 367.

Second and third times the upload was somewhere in the middle of the first and fourth. (I note each time I ran it, the down load increased. The upload was always the same, at 367.

AOL, even with Roadrunner is a bit slow I think,

        test 1
        down 3429kbps
        up 486kbps

        test 2
        down 6194
        up 487

Why so much faster on test 2 down load ???

An IT friend came over the house once and did like a 5min test from a website. It tested for speed and all kinds of other things???
Anyone have a link to a more in depth test?

At some point between you and the other server there is a bottleneck (by definition, one connection is the slowest). Depending on how much utilization there is on that connection, you'll have a bigger or smaller share [particularly close to you]. If your neighbor (or someone else sharing the bottleneck) was doing something bandwidth intensive, your speed goes down.

Pickin' on the uneducated, poor plumber.

I think my connection is too slow to even run the test. (I did NOT try it as others in the past didn't work and even "locked" the browser/computer)

Usually less than 35kbps either way on anything.
