Lets try to keep Political parties out of the discussion as it will lead to a closed thread. I believe both sides of the aisle have been irresponsible.
Mark, I agree that both sides are to blame but why do most folks fail to see that? Defending a political party while ignoring it's problems reminds me of the parent who defends his/her child regardless of their guilt. I was never one of those parents who said "Not my kid", and I feel the same way about politics. I hope we can discuss these disturbing current events without having the thread closed.
And my personal kudos to those who are seeing through the party lines distraction. We can forget about being affiliated with one or the other. Let's focus on the core of the problems. It really doesn't matter how we got here or who is to blame. We just need to fix it. Unfortunately, our leaders have run amuck - doing anything they please.
I am irked when a leader says he or she will 'be responsible' if something goes wrong. So what? Nothing happens to them. I better go lie down - my blood pressure is rising...
Measure TWICE - Cut ONCE! 'Cause the Lumber Stretcher is broken! I'd throw more things away, but I'm afraid someone might want them...

This is scary and sickening, what happened to "Search and seizure with probable cause"? Guess this means our public libraries will no longer be allowed to share music CD's, tapes, DVD's and maybe books for fear of them being copied? Now where is it that this will not happen, china, brazil? The way to stay out of trouble is to stay home and not travel, don't use your computer, and don't say anything to anyone on the computer, phone or in public that might be heard by the government. Where have I seen this before?
I am so upset I can't find the words to comment. In 60 days this idiot we elected president is doing his best to undo 200 years of Democracy. He makes GW look like the most brilliant president we ever had. This guy is damn dangerous. I have to stop now, the blood is seeping from my ear holes.
I was leaving the library earlier today and heading to the post office. On my way I was cut off by a public school bus and ran into someones yard coming about three feet from hitting their FEMA trailer. As I caught my breath, I thought to myself. "Socialism sucks"
Socialism is already a part of our lives.
Social Deomocracy does not bother me.
I own my own business so I'm definitely a capitalist.
Socialism does not mean communism, dictatorship, or totalitarianism.
I was screaming the same thing about Bush after 9/11.
Lets hurry up and get the republicans back in office because they really had a handle on things.
Lenny, all I'm getting from this is that both parities have their own agenda and neither care about the middle class. Trickle down economics did not work and President Obama along with congress bailing out businesses and nullifying contracts won't work either. I voted for Obama but back then he was criticizing McCain for wanting to tax medical benefits, something he now wants to do. Back during the election Obama failed to mention anything about dropping the tax deduction on mortgage interest. Every day brings another nutty idea that has us in more trouble than before. Today a neighbor mentioned something about a higher federal tax on fuel oil? Well, if it's true and it's an attempt to get me to use less oil, I can tell the feds that I froze last winter with $4.00 a gallon oil so they really don't need to punish me any further. I know it's still early in Obama's term but why all these nutty ideas and no jobs? No green technology? Just more taxes and less deductions? I have a feeling that if during a press conference a regular person not one of his hand chosen groupies asked the President what the heck is going on, he would have the same cold, careless and indignant response we occassionally saw from President Bush such as when someone mentioned gasoline was going to $4.00 a gallon and he said "Oh, really". They are cut from the same cloth and once they get into office we see the real person. Very disappointing.
I voted Republican, not because I don't like the Democratic party, It was the inexperienced fool they put on the block. Enjoy what you asked for!
Well, I don't like either party! They both turned their backs as millions of illegals took up residence and jobs. Neither party did a darn thing to keep jobs here or address the trade deficit. The democratic congress did nothing while Bush was President and now they make one bad decision after another. I voted for Obama because the last eight years did not take my country where I wanted it to be, BUT just look at where it is now and where it's headed! No, I did not want this either so I am not going to defend further bailouts and government involvement in private business. I am not going to praise President Obama for doing what John McCain was going to do if elected. I maintain that both parties failed the American Middle Class, and while I don't think Obama is a fool he sure isn't making much of an argument against that opinion. Problem is when these political groups take power and fail to have our best interest at heart "WE ALL SUFFER".
The reason we have so many illegals is because of welfare.
How long will it take Obama to order GM to only make a certain "environmental" car and a tell them what to charge? If it cannot comptete, then they will mandate it to the other car companies....COMMUNISM.
I'll admit that I am deeply disappointed with both parties right now. Something big needs to change and I dont think socialism is the answer (actually I know its not the answer) Anyways... Ill keep an eye on this thread but it is starting to head a bit south.
