  • US Government to cover Auto Warrantees????

"Your warranty will be safe. In fact, it will be safer than it's ever been. Because starting today, the United States government will stand behind your warranty," President Obama said on Monday.

I'm sorry but the President is so far out of control I don't know how we will ever be able to recover. People with money are not spending because they are afraid of the direction we are heading and the President continues to push closer towards Socialism. This is what happens when one party controls all of Congress and the Executive Office. This is starting to feel like the story "The Emperor's New Clothes".

Its a mad rush for change that 99% of the public doesn't understand in the least. In the short run some people are going to benefit from this drastic change. But in the process we give up all our freedom and liberties in exchange for a couple bucks. I wonder what percentage of folks even care about the Constitution anymore?

If you take away the benefits of managing your wealth intelligently and working hard to produce, the country as a whole will suffer loss of production.

CORE PROBLEM = nobody wants to be responsible anymore.

PS... is this turning into a political discussion?

I agree we are headed down a bad road but let's not forget that former President Bush was convinced by his advisors to "bailout" and "stimulate". Regarding loss of freedoms, The Patriot Act and some of the other legislation passed through by the last administration aimed at keeping us safe also took away certain freedoms and privacy. I don't see how anyone can condemn President Obama without admitting how President Bush handled these issues? Do you folks really think a republican President and congress would be making better decisions? I think they would be equally clueless and perhaps as careless with our tax dollars. Change was in order but NOT!!! This change!!! President Bush should not have bailed out any businesses and for President Obama to keep bailing out AIg and the rest of those losers is pointless. Why are we in the Auto business? Why not let them fail and go through restructuring if necessary? Why did President Bush and the congress allow China to assume a trillion dollars of our debt? Where does it all end? Four more years and if President OBama doesn't make some progress we will see the republicans take power again, only given their last reign of power I don't see any hope in that scenario. I guess if your business is big enough to get bailed out the government will stand behind your products and work?

Well, if they are going to force GM into bankruptcy then I guess they will have to take on covering the warranties much like the FDIC backs up you cash deposited in banks when they fail.

This is all getting way out of hand. Start buying bullets, powder, and MREs, you're gonna need 'em.

"Out of hand" is an accurate descrption to put it mildly. I just saw Glen Beck on the Fox news channel and although I don't agree with many of his ideas I was happy to see him tear into my state's attny general Richard Blumenthal a few minutes ago. He challenged mr. b. to quote exactly what law was broken by the folks who received the bonus money from aig? Yes, we were outraged but they were entitled to that money by a legal contract. The auto workers and the folks who supplied the auto industry were also protected by signed and legal contracts, but today's change the law and make it retroactive that does not mean anything. We are a nation of laws and they are being broken by our government, plain and simple. The post office is near the end of it's rope, does this mean they will get bailed out and the postal workers will face a government nullification of their contract? This is not the way to turn our economy around. We need to start producing the goods we consume and stop paying the rest of the world while they refuse to accept our exports. Free trade? That term is not applicable given our trade deficit. Global economy? That means our economy fails as we support the third world and allow china to manipilate us.

China is so far in our pockets they're not ever getting out.
GM is talking about selling of the Hummer brand to a Chinese company.

I don't know where GM even gets to do that. They (GM) licensed the world-wide marketing rights to the Hummer brand name from AM General back in 2000. AM General produces the H2 at their plant with AMG workers for GM, and GM manufactures the H3 in their own plant. GM has nothing to do with the original Hummer (now known as the H1 thanks to GM big sh!ts) or HMMWV (aka HUMVEEs). If they don't (or can't continue the Hummer brand it should revert back to AM General. AMG also makes the HUMVEEs for the military. Why would we want any foreign government to have any connection to anything having to do with a US military contractor or access to anything with regard to their contract(s).

Lets try to keep Political parties out of the discussion as it will lead to a closed thread. I believe both sides of the aisle have been irresponsible.

                              Ah divide and conquer...
We spend so much time and effort blaming the other party that the federal government is taking control of every thing with very little fight.
