Well...I tried that today and since it is on the back side of the last tooth, I don't have a PEZ-HEAD where I can unhinge my jaw and see it.

It's going to take a mirror, no doubt. I can feel it with my tongue for sure.

I've been working on it all day with a fork, toothpick, knife and I haven't hit a nerve yet, and whatever it is feels connected.

What's strange is I never felt this happen. Never crunched on anything. I thought for sure it was going to be like what happens when you eat popcorn and the shell will catch between tooth and gum.

What I'm thinking it "might" be? A filling that has been pryed up on a edge and that's the reason for the sharp edge, not a tooth chip leaving a sharp edge.

You want to "accidentally" get locked in the shop for sure! Since you don't necessarily want anything clean or sanitary you should be able to fix yourself up in a jiffy

So here's a thought. Why not go to a dentist?

Jeez Dunbar, quit being such a sissy and reach back there with a pair of Channel-locks and pull it out. Once you have it in front of you it will be much easier to see what was wrong with the tooth.

It just happened today. I'm on time delay so it will be days and weeks of agonizing pain before I smart up and go. I like waiting till it's beyond repair. I can thank all my plumbing customers for that line of thinking!

That's a good point, but I pull that filling out then I will be in pain, exposing a nerve that would be unbelievably sensitive to the 5 pounds of food that goes in my mouth every day.

Not including the cold water I drink every night.

I thought you were teaching them the way of the Dunbar world one customer at a time.

I hope you take care of it soon before anything worse happens. It would be a shame for you not to be able to eat.

Re: do you have Dental coverage

I went to a dentist to have some cavities filled and see about getting the braces my parents couldn't afford when I was a kid.

He showed me an x-ray of my wisdom teeth that needed to be removed and explained that the line you see right here laying against this wisdom tooth is a nerve that if damaged during surgery could cause permanent numbness in my lower jaw.

That was ten years ago, haven't been back since.

I'm married, who do I have to impress with straight teeth?

As long as they stay mostly white it's all good.

I brush daily and hope for the best.

I can only act tough because I am in the middle of a root canal & crown. The root canal was a piece of cake. The fitting for the crown and the temporary crown was pure torture (fairly certain the Dentist was chuckling under his breath). Hopefully setting the crown will be a cake walk.

I think your regular dentist doesn't like you. I've been through root canals and crowns several times and while not exactly pleasant the prep, impressions and temp crowns were hardly torture.

Probably the best thing that could ever happen to me at this point. I'm not too fond of tooth pain.....it's rough.

I can't remember if it was you or someone else that told me they had diabetes....but I heard that teeth are first to go in this situation?

                      If it does....I'm doomed.

I've been noticing my teeth getting sensitive on one side of my mouth even though I use sensedyne sp? and brush often.

I believe it's the sugar I consume in a day that's causing it.

I'm pretty sure I broke off the back edge of my tooth. Didn't expose a nerve, just extremely sharp in my mouth now. Looks like I'm heading to the dentist for giving my hard earned money away. 1000 candy bars later, and I'm falling apart.

It's my fault, unless of course I walk out with a stronger prescription for amoxi!

Well, I kept noticing that while chewing the gum, it kept stringing in my mouth and couldn't figger out why.

I figured a long hair got in my mouth.

What it feels like, because I cannot see it...is the back side of my last tooth either cracked or chipped, and now has a sharp edge. I've had stuff lodge between my tooth and gum and feel like the tooth but if I trusted where I've put my micro-seasnake, I'd take a look and see wtf is going on.

I guess I'll use a small mirror like the dentists use the next time I can get out to the flea market.

Looks like I might be using the ole dremel tool for the fix.

                            Damn,

I turned into a post whore on this thread (sorry Charlie ) and no one could tell they were cries for help.

Well, I really screwed the pooch because what made my jaw drop, was the date of when I mentioned my tooth fell apart in my jaw. 4-20-09

And now it's 6 months later.

That tooth was removed from my jaw two weeks ago but there's something bad going on that antibiotics won't stop at this point. I've been mouthwashing with hydrogen peroxide and I'm on my second script of antibiotics,

and tomorrow I see a specialist to x-ray/determine where the problem lies in my skull, including the grey matter above that didn't pay attention to how many months ticked by with my scenario.

I swear, I thought my broken tooth issue happened in july, august, hell september. I really did. But I know the time stamp doesn't lie.

I had that tooth jerked, 3 days after it radiated pain, but apparently the 6 months prior should of been a hint.

The tooth that's hurting for me is one that I cannot pull, it's towards the front. What makes no sense is I can drink cold drinks, eat ice, all kinds of stuff that normally you wouldn't think would apply...but there's something not right in my head. Awe damn!
