      very stagnat.

our water source (Nippisar Lake) used to be aireated via compressor during the winter.

i helped take some water samples a number of years ago. we did O2 readings and samples at given levels under the ice cover.

we had this cool little sample taker that looked like a tin can with hinged lids.

when we took the sample 1' off the bottom and opened up the sample can, poooowwwwaaaaaahhhhh. it literally smelt like sewage.

really, really rotten water. dead fish and plant matter.

gov't cut backs dictated shutting down the compressor several years ago.

many Inuit don't drink the water out of the tap up here.

people are constantly going to the lakes to harvest ice.

          fresher than fresh water.
