  • I call her Tammy

    every summer up here in rankin we have little sail boat races.

    the rules are pretty straight forward;

    - maximum length is determined by the race holder
    - wind power only
    -the first one across the lake wins

    "Tammy" is made from a piece of strofoam SM. the plastic sail comes from some kind of suitcase. the mast is from an old blind (the rod used to turn the blinds). i covered the whole thing with aluminum foil to aid the hydro-dynamic thing. there is a rudder but it isn't in place for these pics. i use a ziploc filled with sand for the ballast.

    i missed the race last year by about 3 minutes.

    i've been playing with different hull designs for a number of years now. i think this year i've got it figured out.

    Nice lookin little boat. I like the u-shape in the hull. I had a little skiff with a hull design like that. I could put a Hobie 16 behind me with that little thing!

    Good luck in the race, I'll be rooting for you. Take pics of the race!!
    I put it all back together better than before. There\'s lots of leftover parts.

            Vince, in pic no. 5, is that the bait well or the beer cooler?

              obviously a beer cooler. it's a racing sailboat and as such has no need for a bait well. but a beer cooler is a mandatory item on any racing sailboat
