    Re: corel

I'm a Corel user from Corel 7 through 9. I skipped Corel 10, but did purchase the Corel 11 upgrade, which I considered a step down. Maybe I can help though, what are you trying to export to?

BTW, Corel for awhile had the reputation of coming out year after year with upgrades that added little and in some cases actually took away features. While I liked the software and used it professionally, I got tired of paying for upgrades that offered little advantage. I wish they'd spend more time fixing the bugs on the existing software version. My favorite version is Corel 9, though it to has a few bugs.

So, let me know what you are trying to export to and I'll try to help, if I can.

I used Corel Draw back in college. Can't remember ever having the problem exporting files. However, one thing you could do is save the file as a backup (so you dont loose the original) Then go and Colapse or flaten all the layers into one image. Then export to jpg. If its like Photoshop at all sometimes you can just export the current layer you are focused on.

        Thanks for the replies,
I am in the process of branding my logo such as seen in my signature, when I export the file to my computer then upload it to my website I cannot seem to get rid of the background ( white block surrounding the image ). how or what to convert to so that just the lettering and rectangle are exported?

I purchased this program without any support or books.

It's already a GIF, you need to set the transparency color.

Thanks Bob, getting closer to a solution, I did not build this logo, the Lady that did my truck built it then sent it to me after we finished the truck.

I don't know how to do what your telling me.

Try this (above). It looks the same but the background (white) is
set to the transparency color as revealed in the snag-it below.

Did it work for you? The logo should now when overlaid on another graphic let what is in the background show through. I think that is what you were wanting to do right?

                    Re: corel

Export it as a "transparent PNG"

                    That will work for you.

Do you have the original file ?

If so email me and I will fix it for you if you like,

                    Joseph

                    Otherwise export as transparent PNG

BUT - There is ONE thing,

"Your" file MAY NOT be the source and be "flattened" meaning tha you would have to "re contact" the designer so they could change the background.

Some designers will issue the "PSD" and some will give a "PSD" that is flattened.

Your whole problem might be that the "layer" you are trying to change is flattened.

                    Did that make sense?

                    Joseph

                    PS: Hope that helps
