  • New Forum Feature - who read this thread

I just installed a mod to the forum that lets you see which members have read an thread on the forum. Just scroll all the way to the to bottom of page and the list will be there. Hover over their username and it will tell you when they read the thread. Its useful for telling if someone has read your question.

This is a little too Google-like isn't it?

Google tracks everything you do on one of their
sites...EVERYTHING, and they NEVER get rid of
    the information.

Every search you ever run, every video or image
you viewed, every stock you ever looked at, it's
all there. And they have no plans to get rid of it.

Can you add a Agree or Disagree button similar
    to the Thanks button?

That would be handy. Many times I use the Thanks
button to say I agree with what others have said.
My guess is many others use it this way too.

So Bob... you're voting no on the feature? You would rather people didn't know who has seen a thread...

I could always do a agree or disagree in the form of a poll.

        This performs a great feature.

You could start a thread, and it would state that you needed help desperately,

then you could scroll down to the bottom and look at how many people didn't help you.

          Exactly !!!!

Then you could send pms to your friends like:

"Hey man, You even viewed my thread and couldn't spend 10 seconds writing a response.~~~YOU SUCK!!!"......LOL

          ALSO =

I think it would be EVEN BETTER if it told you HOW MANY times a user also looked at the post!!!

          That would be cool !

          Thanks for the great addition!!!!!!!

            So does everyone else.....

            Visa, mastercard, banks,.....

For Gawds sakes you ever hear of a "digital packet" . You IP or cable / internet provider is tracking your every move, every photo you look at etc......

Same with your cell phone, every call you make from the geo location, etc

Shop for groceries ....use a store savings card.....guess what that is tracked to ;-)

I think this MOD is the least of any our "tracking" issues ;-)

Here is a good book you might enjoy!

This is the second time I have read this thread. At first I wasn't going to respond, but the more I think about it, I think it is an invasion of privacy. Is it really anybody's business which threads I read and do or not respond? Especially political oriented ones!!! I think it should be removed. Nuff said.

rick, that may be true but on the other hand there is nothing quite so boring as to read the same response over and over again offered by a dozen or more different people. Many times I will read a thread and agree with the information already submitted and decide that no response is the best response.

This new feature is a cute little add on but I don't see it as serving any useful purpose. No offense Josh.

Yup, probably long before you did.

You can usually find information relating to how a
reputable site uses the information it collects (if any)
in their Privacy Policy, or it that Private Policy.

And since you are in bed with Google (you make use of their
services on your site) of course you don't see it as a problem.

Big Brother is watching but is it always a good thing? Depends for who for what and for whom.
Neat feature but wish it could be optional with a check box.
