Up until the Bush Administration, this country was the only country on Earth that did not have an official language.

I don't think anything changed with respect to an official language during the Bush administration.

Until recently, we haven't needed an "official" language.

ENGlish is the language of ENGland.

Spanish is the language of Spain.

Italian is the language of Italy.

French is the language of France.

In The United States of AMERICA shouldn't we be speaking AMERICAISH?

By the way, we all know who America is named after, don't we???
          ...Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian.

As the original 13 English speaking colonies expanded westward, they enveloped lands that had already been explored by countries that spoke many other languages. such as French, Spanish, not to mention the original natives. The culture was already established. You can reclaim a man's land but you should not wipe out his culture.

I enjoy traveling the world, I get a warm feeling when I am in a foreign land and I am greeted by them in my language, instead of me having to use my translater.

The United States of America, the land that wiped out it's Native language, then made official, a language borrowed from England.
