Mark, sadly, I honestly thought I was watching part of a comedy skit, unfortunately there was no punchline.

It just makes me chuckle a little. Joe Lieberman is an Independent because the Dems threw him under the bus so he had to go on his own yet still caucuses with the Dems. Al Franken is told by the Leadership to play hard ball with him yet the Dems need him if they are going to pass Health Care. Then John McCain has to go in and defend his good friend even though he's a Repub. At this point I wish Lieberman and McCain were co-Presidents. It couldn't get any worse.

Bold move by Al "Cheated his State on a Recount" Franken.

Liebermann is always sitting on the fence with deciding votes, and this will haunt the left for doing as such. Those guys keep count better than you know.

Then Senator Byrd, KKK Klansman strolls in, in his wheelchair pointing obscenity to the republicans. Along with the hatred of anyone not white, it'll be a better day when that man leaves this planet.

You are always counted for your actions, then and now and in the future, byrd.

They are pushing for something, you can tell.

What will it take to get better? Can you imagine what the country will be like by the end of Obama's term and what our choices will be for the next Presidential race? I'm not laughing. "Yes we can", I feel like I just left a time share seminar and signed a bad contract I can't undo.

I've had a hole in one pair of the work pants pocket where I put my change.

Every time I forget and see the change hit my boot I'd yell "More Change!".

First thing I thought of when I read the thread title. Completely true.

            Back on topic. Zeitgeist!!!

That's because you understand how serious the situation has become. I think it will take something big, very big to bring about the necessary change needed to rescue our economy. Maybe what the President and democrats are doing is so over the top wrong that there will be some enormous response? I think had McCain won, with or without the support of congress, little would change regarding illegals, job loss, unemployment or all the scandal on wall street. Sure we would have had a slower ride to tent city, but as long as we kept borrowing and buying from china the destination would have remained the same. We need a plan that gives us a different outcome. We need an honest, intelligent group to take power and work for the people of America and not "the party", not china and the global economy!
Things were not good under President Bush and they are certainly not good now. What will it take for things to be good again? What will it take to employ Americans and stop enriching the rest of the world?:

Sure, that is the place to be, the deciding vote. It all hinges on you then

                      Re: More "Change"

I'm not sure what your point is. The Republicans have publishing memos specifying strategies on how to waste senate time so the bill can not get finished. They have Republican congressmen on record stating 'We vow to stop any and all health care reform through any means necessary.' The Republicans do not want any meaningful health care reform to occur. There stance on this has nothing to do with the good of the American people. It is for political reasons. If the Democrats pass any good legislation it will hurt the Republicans chances of regaining seats in the next election, so best not to let anything done.

I'm truly impressed with the Democrats ability to hold a majority and let the minority trample them. Obama's administration is a joke. He goes into every fight from a losing position willing to consent to anything in order to try and bring out compromise. The Republicans have shown very plainly they will not give their support to anything he proposes. If he wanted to pass a bill saying we shouldn't steal candy from babies they'd oppose it. Obama won the presidency and the Democrats won the majority because people wanted to see change. If the Republicans want to oppose it let them do so publicaly and openly so when the next round of elections come up the people that wanted change know who the problem is. As it is now liberal Democrats are getting less and less likely to even vote in the next election because the people they voted in are consenting to anything in order to get bills passed rather then standing their ground and fighting for what their constituents. wanted.

Lieberman is not an allie to the Democrats he is dedicated to his constituents(one of his few redeeming qualities). His states largest job market is insurance companies. Any measure that aims to control costs hurts insurance profits. He has been actively working to add amendments he does not support so in turn he can say 'I will not vote for it if it' because it has the same amendment he worked to have added.

It is appearances like this from McCain that make me continue to lose respect for a man I once admired. He sat there and flat out lied to try and make Franken's move look like something out of the ordinary. McCain himself has actually been in the seat and denied time just as Franken did. Denying time extensions is common practice. McCain makes the claim he's never seen such a thing in 20 years. Huh? how does he define seen? Has he just never paid attention in 20 years? He is just blowing smoke and wasting time.

I love how Carl Levin a 30 year senator interrupts McCain and points out the same thing just happened literally 2 hours ago.

Al Franken has no reason to give Lieberman more time. It is not like Lieberman is going to say anything meaningful he is speaking for the purpose of wasting time. As a junior senator Franken is certainly stepping on toes he shouldn't. So far I've been impressed with him. He is one of the few that actually reads all the bills he votes on and knows what he's talking about when questioned. Unlike a majority of Democrats he has a spine and conviction. I personal hope to see more from him.

                      Some more clips of him

                      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCNs7Zpqo98

And look he even does stupid senator tricks
                      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0-FYyuvrRk
I found that one entertaining. Most Americans can't draw a map that includes every state, Less then 70 percent of Americans can even name label a map of the US(ie fill in state names). I was amazed by his ability to do it with so much precision.

                      He's change I'll take.

Still drinking the Kool Aid I see

The republicans do not want THIS ONE SIDED DEEPLY FLAWED BILL TO PASS.

Republicans recognize that there are things in the health care system that need to be changed. Like allowing illegal aliens to use the system and like reforming tort laws, both of which if done would take a massive burden off the system but as the congress is primarily made up of lawyers and ex lawyers there is no damn chance in hell of that.
This bill has NOTHING at all to do with health care and everything to do with political power and cementing the Democrat socialist model for the United States.

Obama is rapidly loosing support among progressive Democrats as well as they are slowly beginning to realize that their base is not happy.

IF he drew that with no help he did darn good. I know I could not draw a
map of the USA as well proportioned as that w/o some practice.

I wonder if the map was penciled in on that poster board and could not be
seen by anyone unless you were right up close to it.

I agree with Bob, I figured right away that he was tracing the map, its just too good to be free hand.
