    Re: Safer Air Travel

I think we need to put an end to all this political correctness crap and start profiling. Not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims.

Profiling does not bother me. If there is a high percentage of people that look like me committing crimes, I myself think it's reasonable and EXPECT to be looked at with more scrutiny.

      Just common sense.

We could also stop treating everyone like a criminals and accept there are risks to a free society.

I'm OK with walking through a metal detector and letting them scan my bags but them deciding I can't have a tube of toothpaste or a bottle of water and demanding I take my shoes off is over the top in my opinion.

My opinion secure the cockpit so it can not be entered in flight thus the plane won't be flown into things. Simple and has worked well for Israel for years.

Everyone on a the plane is an acceptable risk to maintain the freedom and dignity of the travel process IMO. Don't want to be included in that risk group drive or take a boat, which by the way even prior to all our increased security is more likely to put your life in jeopardy.

I fly at least once every 3 months how about the rest of you?

I haven't flown in about eight or none years and don't plan to any time soon. I don't really mind the added precautions but don't feel they are sufficient to make things safe. I seriously don't think it can be made safe and still function. Someone determined to cause damage can and will, just a matter of time.

instead of toilets, they get adult diapers like astronauts. That's the only thing they should be allowed to wear. Instead of seats and overhead compartments, there should be an array of honey combs, one for each passenger. each compartment gets a window. There will be camera surveillance in each compartment. If unusual activity is observed in the compartment, passenger will be ejected through their individual window, not effecting any of the other passengers.

But seriously, what scares me is that after all precautions have been taken and the innocent travelers have been subjected to all these safety measures. The terrorist will realize that they don't really have to be onboard the plane to take it down.

I think they already know that. Do you think they can't get rocket propelled grenades, or they prefer to go out as martyrs onboard?

                  Re: Safer Air Travel

I like the comment about "breasts" being a possible problem. Now I'm thinking of showing my wife that particular post... next time she see's me looking, she'll know it's just for purposes of "national defense"!

One thing that I think we often forget... nobody has a "right" to fly! So security, though thought to be ridiculous and stupid, needs to be tighter and personally, I'm all for profiling and if necessary segregating anyone who looks the profile.

After all, if it's people with purple hair (whatever) that are doing the bombing, you simply don't let people with purple hair in your backyard! And if purple-haired people feel persecuted, well then it's time they stood up and dealt with their brethen for bringing dishonor to the clan.

But after all the most painstaking measures one can take, it's really impossible to completelly defend against terrorism. Eventually, one of them will get through no matter what we do.

Just read an article on the full body scanners. One of the hurdles they hit is child pornography laws. As it is now in instances were they've been implemented they don't use them on anyone under 18.

I agree with both ('cept for the all terrorists are Muslims part. Remember IRA? ETA? or a wide selection of South and Central American groups?)

While I agree with a lot of merits of ethnic profiling it is very, very far from being fool proof. Remember the shoe bomber? He was a full blooded white Brit. Just yesterday Slovak government in the course of testing airport security, managed to have someone unwittingly take explosives on a plane. Slovaks as as white as they come.
