    Re: Tea Party News

    Strange thoughts indeed!

So, I guess when a company comes to town and does what it wants, it can just buy us out, force us to move somewhere else? Then in true Republican fashion, that same company gets to right off this "business expense". What you are proposing it that industry always has rights that exceed those of the people.... and yet you call China "communist".

Then when that company decides it has polluted enough, it just moves to another town and repeats the process? I don't think you are thinking this true too well.

That is very much what has led this country to where it is today. What you are proposing is that we as workers and citizens have no rights in the face of "what's good for industry". You also don't seem to understand that it's these same industries that have decided to move thier factories to China and to employ Chinese workers, instead of American workers and without regard for that history, you think that this company in Pennsylvania, and others like it, should simply be able to ignore what they do to the neighboring environment, and buy out any complainers and relocate them. I guess I have to be happy that I don't live in your version of America.

No administration has been more secretive, or devestating to the working class, the military, our international relationships, our environment, national parks, or our economy than the previous Republican administration. That administration has allowed more illegal immigration, borrowed more from China, and allowed more exporting of our jobs than any other... and you guys can't wait to get them back or replace them with some of the most bizarre political thinkers of our time.

I don't begin to know where some of you guys are coming from, what you are seeing, or what you really would like to have in a government. Clearly some extreme thoughts here, and it makes little sense to attempt any argument to the contrary.

I think I'll just leave you all to your remake of America, and pray that you will be in the minority on election day.

CWS, you have written somegreat posts and you are clearly a smart man. When I said the same thing I posted here to my daughter's teacher I'm sure he thought I was an ignorant extremist, but who among us is ignoring the obvious? Sure what I am suggesting will set us back in terms of individual rights, corporate abuse, and unchecked pollution to name a just a few offenses, but would you rather survive to deal with those abuses or fall to the wayside while communist china wipes the floor with us?

I think my example of the two families fishing to survive, one with traditional methods and one with dynamite was shocking but to the point. Does the seriousness of the situation justify extreme measures?

I have always fought for the environment, and the ideal, idea of cap and trade and $10.00 a gallon gasoline to deter waste would be great for the environment in a country with a strong economy. Look around, open your eyes to the unemployment, home foreclosures, auto reposessions, loss of businesses and jobs. We must go into survival mode and accept that there will be collateral damage in order to live another day.

I get sick to my stomach at the thought of voting republican after eight years of President Bush, but my vote for President Obama and the democrats has almost lead to our destruction. Cash for Clunkers, destroyed a lot of good cars in an effort to artifically jump start a failing industry. That healthcare bill was passed with dirty politics, same as used by the republicans and it was hated by most Americans.

I know we are not electing saviors, political wizards who will bring back America. We are electing the lesser of the two evils, another bunch of crooks with an agenda that will not serve we the people. Give me an alternative that leaves America standing! No one with a shred of gray matter can honestly defend either party in my opinion. Just look at where they have both led us and shake your head in disbelief.

Make a choice but be clear of the consequences, stand by your principles and accept defeat, or prepare to get dirty and play dirty. Americans will be displaced against their will, ground water and air will become polluted, but we may survive to fight another day. Perhaps we can live to reestablish our ideals.

Obama yesterday: "Now is not the time to quit".

          Rahm Emanuel today: "I quit".

            Re: Tea Party News

I for one don't see much of a difference between this Administration and the last one. Seems like its just more of the same. More war, more health care coverage, more spending, more debt.

I support the tea party 100% even though I don't agree with some of the candidates views. It's so nice to see America waking up from it's apathy and getting involved and pissed off.

I would much rather have a grass roots candidate like O'Donnell, Rubio, or Paul than another GOP establishment candidate which would be politics as usual.

IMHO both parties are about the same except for a few differences on social issues. Which is why I call them the "republicrats".

Thank heaven for the tea party shaking things up.

Oh, I do find it interesting that only about 15% of colonial Americans supported the revolution and the founders. Most thought they were crazy and ''on the fringe".

              Re: Tea Party News

The two traditional parties differ only in window dressing... typically, social issues as mpm points out. These are emotional issues that tend to get attention... but not really matters of economics and government that actually affect you. The parties USE the emotional issues to stir up the public... but the special interests behind the scenes are intrested in MONEY. On issues of substance with respect to MONEY, special interests control the behavior of both parties and that's why no matter which is driving, we head down the same road. If you were the financial industry or the oil interests, would you try to influence one party and run th risk of losing your influence when the other is in control, or would you simply pump money to both and cover your bets?

The tea party at this point is not really a party. It's a special interest that, for a change, seems to represents the general dissatisfaction of a growing part of the public. Precisely because it is loosely organized, it's difficult for the traditional lobbies to infect and thus is scaring the heck out of the political establishment.

If they become too mainstream, we're likely to end up with nothing more than three corrupt parties.

But in the meantime, I think tea is great. Complacency, apathy, and blind trust in a system that is based on legalized bribery (lobbies) is an open door for corruption. Social engineering, socialism, and policies that strongly favor the needs of the few over the good of the many are the result. Ever wonder why things seem to be circling the drain in more or less the same way no matter what party has the throttle? Right now the tea party is the only faction I'm aware of that is successfully addressing this.
