  • guilty or not guilty?

    that is the question

help me tomorrow to keep me occupied.

tomorrow i have jury duty4 nights calling in at 5pm seeing if they need me the following day and thursday is my lucky day

so unless i get picked to get onto a trial, it's going to be a long boring day.

not sure if they will let me bring in my jenga game, or my shocking toys, but they will allow computers and have wireless to keep me on the forum

maybe i'll open up a shop talk forum with the 200+ others expected to join me.

so when your ankle deep in pooh, remember i have it worse. i'll be bored to death

    keep me entertained tomorrow.

    thanks,

    rick.

    It's not about your inconvenience.
It's about your civic duty and the privilege of participating in the
democratic process. It's about preserving the freedom, rights, and
liberties that we enjoy. Ones that have been bought with blood
and are still being defended today. Regardless how flawed our
judicial system may seem, it's still the best one around. Hopefully
it still will be when your daughter grows up.

They should let this forum decide. Bring the Jury online, We could all skype in.

although i do agree with your statement. i don't agree with the way they keep you hanging. assign me a date and i'll be there. don't keep me hanging for a week and screw up my entire week trying to figure out what jobs i can take on since i don't know if they need me the following day.

being self employed, i can't commit to anything and have to eliminate any jobs that are more than 1 day long. then i have to scramble to make up my work sch. after 5pm which is the earliest i can call in to see if they need me the following day.

if they would have assigned me a particular day of the week, all would be solved and i wouldn't keep customers hanging and myself scrambling.

i have a building with a leak coming into the first floor ceiling. they called me last night and i told them about my jury duty. depending how bad the leak is, will determine if they wait or call someone else. this is a building that i've been their plumber for the last 9 years and do all of the hoa work and 1/2 the private owners work.

don't mind the duty, just the way they assign it.

I know it's a PITA, especially for a one man band.
But you have to have provisions for a back-up.
Even more so when your alone.
What if, God forbid, you were go down with an injury,
          illness, or some other catastrophe.
You know what they say about those who fail to plan.

jim, it's not a money issue. it's more of a let down to my customers. it's a lack of planning and being able to commit to a job/ project waiting for the bat phone to ring

if i were to be forced to take time off due to an injury or recently the birth of phoebe, my customers would understand and i had a couple buddies i referred to the customers.

but imagine being put on standby for a week and not know until 5pm the night before if you can take on the job. what happens when the job was a 2 day job. i was screwed

personally i would like to serve on a jury/trail, just don't waste my time and have me sit for a week without my toys

sch me a particular day and i'll be there with no complaints

You may lose a few customers to a smarter plumber, they now know that you aint smart enough to get out of jury duty!

                dan,

                " i'm no attorney

but i'm sure i can get you off ''

believe me, dan, there are no excuses.

the la county court system is the largest system in the world. the judge just told us there are 50 court houses in the la county system. they pool 10,000 prospective jurors a day

the waiting room is framed with hollywood celebrities that have served.

i'll see if they'll be honored to have my mug on display

so my extreme lightning shocking game went over real good in the jurors waiting room. nothing like screaming adults while others that were to afraid to play were anxiously watching on

out of the dozen games, i never lost

maybe i'll stick around and let the sheriff's / bailiff's play
