Visit Red Rock Canyon; take a day trip out to Death Valley; another good day trip is the Hoover Dam - take the fully monty tour where you go down in the belly of the beast. As a plumber you will love it. You'll also see the new bridge built over the river at the dam, was just completed in the past year I think.

A little further away is the Grand Canyon.

We've been to the area three times. Each time we go to Vegas and set up camp there so to speak, rent a car for the week and travel out each day to someplace new, returning most days but in the case of the Grand Canyon we overnighted close by so as not to waste time traveling back and forth from Vegas. Vegas is cheap to fly in and out of, at least it used to be. Our last trip there was in 2004. We hope to go back again in a year or so.

Take a helo ride into the Grand Canyon you won't regret it. Almost $300 bucks but well worth it. They pick you up in a limo, take you to the airport and fly you into the Canyon. By 7AM you'll be drinking Mimosas on the edge of the raging Colorado river. Great views of Hoover Dam too. The front seat next to the pilot is NOT where you want to be. Flying directly into the sunrise so the sun glare off the bubble is blinding.
