  • Electric or Gas water heater?

I am trying to cut cost on the bills my wife is having a baby. I recently moved into a new home with a Gas/electric water heater should I cap it off and go electric to avoid a gas bill?

between natural gas and electric, natural gas is way cheaper to operate. electric rates are much higher even accounting for the heater efficiency rating. of course heating oil i haven't a clue.

Out here we have electric and propane as your choices. I remove many more propane water heaters then I install because of the high cost of propane.

Which ever you decide on, there are other things that might help lower your hot water cost. Wrap the heater with an approved insulting blanket. I don't care for the water saving aerators but they do reduce water consumption. Lastly, congrats and best wishes for a happy & heathy baby. Frank
