  • generator question/ problem

I have a Ridgid 8000 watt electric start generator. When I turned the generator off this morning I didn't close the fuel valve, gasoline started dripping out of the air filter compartment, if I open it and clean the air filter and make sure the compartment has a chance to dry will it still run safely?

edit: it was only off with the fuel valve open for maybe 15 minutes

Edit the second: got hold of a tech, just in case anyone else ever come across this post looking for this answer he said to just open up the air filter case and let it air out, that everything would be fine.

    Nope.
You still need to address the cause.
You've probably got debris in the carburetor's needle valve, which will need to be cleaned out. Turning the valve "off" when the engine is not running is highly recommended, but you've still got an issue that needs to be taken care of.
