Manufacturing is becoming a thing of the past Frank and you better get used to it as people will not take the gamble anymore you didn`t so why should others take the risk in running their own businesses or manufacturing businesses or are they there to employ people like you and pay you an hourly rate and all the other benifits to pay for a standard of living which has no comparison to countries like China and other third world countries that compete against our manufacturers

Yeah, Tony I believe you are absolutely correct. The big manufacturing outfits here in the states are (mostly) a thing of the past and some of the older guys are having a difficult time getting used to that fact. I am pretty amazed at all of the running around screaming "the sky is falling, the sky is falling!" Things have changed and are still in the process of changing. That doesn't necessarily mean that that's bad, it's just different and after some adjustments and education it may be a change for the better. I don't know. What I do know is that the economy sux right now but I believe that it will get better, it will likely be awhile before it does but it will. I also think that the Unions should get a good solid kick to the back of their pants so that they can get their holier then thou attitude adjusted. It's always amusing to see that the union guys who claim how great they had it (or have it) are always the one's that are crying "the sky is falling" the loudest. Geez, talk about being defeated. I think a lot of them should go have their heads examined and get some of this gawd awful depression of theirs under control.

What else were you going to do but deny the facts and then (as usual) call anyone and everyone that disagrees with your point of view names in your usual attempt to belittle them and their opinion. No one is posting the fact that March on Wall Street equals a lot of Union organization for any reason other then that is the truth of the matter. Which of course clearly shows who the real idiots are.
You are probably amused by things like enron, or did you miss that bit of American history? Regarding the wallstreet protests and Union involvement, I have not specifically commented on it not because I choose to ignore it but because there is still much more to be discovered. I listen to several news programs including fox and the best I can gather is that specific leaders, agendas or demands have yet to be exposed. I would want to know more of why Unions are involved or showing support before commenting. Ever hear the saying "fools rush to judgement"? You are rushing and acting like a fool, you are also a rude and insulting person, something I have been acused of myself. Hey maybe we are more alike than your think or I care to admit? The facts, real facts about the whole wallstreet protest thing will come out and we will all be better informed. Take some time and educate yourself about Unions, and about spineless folks like the ones at enron who hurt tens of thousands of hard working people. You must be very young and that explains your need to learn. I have nothing to be ashamed of, no agenda to hide from facts and without a doubt nothing to be concerned of regarding stupid, ignorant comments by people who do not support democracy. Was that rude or was I pretending to seem upset? Gosh, I'm confused myself.

Can you spell clueless? "The economy sux right now but I believe that it will get better". Okay genius, millions of Americans are unemployed, we are in debt to communist china that happens to make most of our consumer goods, by what miracle will the economy get better? Come on no simple answer like getting rid of Unions, put on your thinking cap and give a real thoughtful answer. We need millions of jobs, drastically reduced gov't spending and there is no plan in the works. What's your opinion on how this miracle happens. I'm on the edge of my seat for this gem.

Frank you are amusing. Your assumptions (as usual) were way off. You love to jump to conclusions concerning folks who disagree with you and then go off on a tangent believing that what you have assumed is correct. Talk about ignorance eh. I was a member of the United Steelworkers Frank and I do know about unions. But I do get a chuckle out of you calling me a rude and insulting person Frank as I have not said anything to you that you have not said to several other people on this forum. You and that huge world of "double standards" that you enjoy swimming in causes you to become upset when people treat you the same way you treat others. Whats up Frank, you don't like that Anyway the Unions have a large part in organizing the Wall Street protesters if you choose to throw up a bullshit smokescreen about it or not Frank. Some of the protesters are even being paid to protest.

You claiming that others are against democracy or what our wonderful country stands for Frank; that is just more of your amusing BS. This is a free country and folks are free to think and believe what they will and do not have to agree with your points of view to be good citizens. Your narrow minded and hateful point (s) of view of what it takes to be a good American stinks Frank. Others, those of us who are not defeated, are living the dream and following our pursuit of happiness as is our right to do if you agree with it or not. I think you are way to hateful and narrow minded to be a good American Frank but that is just my opinion and you are welcome to yours. But be careful, the communists might get you!

Geez Frank. You need to get ! "The sky is falling, the sky is falling" is the only thing you ever have to say. Well, that and calling people that disagree with you names. There is a lot of good stuff going on outside Frank, you just need to break out of that miserable box you have built for yourself and go and find it. All those years of being and being around those hate filled and victimized union workers has gotten to you. I honestly think you should speak to your doctor about this problem of yours.

That's an easy one Frank. Let's make it simple, the economy, you and me. Their is an old saying that easily explains this. "Your glass is half empty or it is half full". Frank, your glass is half empty and you live in great fear of your glass being empty. My glass is half full and I jump out of bed in the morning with a smile on my face and a spring in my step and I go out and try to fill my glass up some more. And I'm not scared of the commies coming to get me.

i just wake up knowing that i can not change much of anything. but i live well within my means. i also do not worry about what our goverment does as i can not control them. at some point in my life i learned to stop complaining about everything that i can not control and deal with it.

besides complaining about everything i do not like will never fix anything on a tool forum......... wow this is one time tools can not fix some thing..... who would have thunk it?

Just like I thought, not a single idea! A lot of smoke and hot air. If you made an effort to learn about the world around you, you wouldn't have to change the subject. Come on, give it a try, use your brain, what will change to save the economy? Magical jobs, a new President? Don't be afraid to sound stupid, we learn from our mistakes. Maybe you have something smart to say. I'd love to know what's in your head other than stupid comments about who you think I am or that I need to get ? Go ahead finish the sentence. Nothing to fear, just text in hyperspace. I don't fear commies abbott, I fear mindless Americans with their heads in the sand. This country didn't get to this point by people like you and I showing concern. There is a difference between being informed and concerned ,and being an alarmist. I am well fed, well loved and for the time being secure, but I am concerned for my country and our economy. You just don't get it do you? I'm sure rather than risk an answer you'll revert to the same mindless comments. Hey if that's all you are capable of I'll let it go and say I'm sorry. You did your best my friend. God Help Us.

Frank, in 2008 we were warned what Barrack Obama was about and stood for, and those people were called fear mongers and racist's for speaking out. We were told we didn't know what we were talking about, but those people were informed on "who" this man was and what makes him tick. Fast forward to 2011 and come to find out we were dead on what Barrack Obama is all about. So were those people who voted for Barrack Obama informed voters? We all here pretty much agree that illegals are a major part of the problem here, but yet the Obama administration is stonewalling every attempt with follow the U.S. law on illegals.

Obama believes heavily in re-distribution of wealth, and he believes in the tax and spend philosophy. Now I know Obama is not entirely at fault for all of our problems, as past Presidents have added to the problem. But this clown has divided a Nation, and driving is right to the point of no return, and we will have major strife in this country if we don't change course as quickly as possibly. I honestly believe now that this country was more pissed off at George Bush, then actually liking Barrack Obama principles and what he stood for. Because if you read and listen to what he says, and read his books, his ideas are not American ideas and principles that this country was founded on. His principles are right out of the Karl Marx play book, and these principles have NOT been successful anywhere in the civilized world, but yet we wanted him as the leader of our Nation?

Why is their so much anger in this country? I'm only 39 years old, and I've never seen this much anger towards one another in this country before. Why are we trying to change history and not teach our children the same history you and I were taught in school? Why do we have groups in this country trying to brain wash our children into thinking a certain way in life? We are taught to follow and obey they law in this country, but yet the Government themselves don't follow those same laws they put into affect.(illegals).

For the first time in my life I denounced our President they day he got elected because of his "own" actions and his words. Being in the military we all took an "oath" to be defenders of the Constitution of the United states. The day Obama called the Constitution "A deeply flawed document" told me everything I need to know about the man.

My old neighbor is 88 years old and he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He's a Democrat...but a Democrat stuck back in the day Democrats had more Republican views and were more moderate. This old codger can barely walk, but yet he still goes outside and takes in all the neighbors trash cans while they are at work. He loans out all of his tools for the neighbors to use, and he asks passer byer's if they need a ride home if they are walking with groceries. When I lived across the street from him, he use to be waiting outside on his porch at 8am for me to go to work. When he saw me he use to look down at his watch and I would here him say.."Jesus Christ...you have bankers hours". When I look at this guy...I see what America use to stand for.

What happen to that America that once was? Why did this country vote in a person who is against everything this country use to stand for...for socialistic ideas? Why did this country vote for a guy who touted himself a "Uniter" and he only divided a country?

Who were the informed ones and who were the misinformed Frank?

I had enough "Change"...it's time to right the ship and get back to old American values.

Flux, I was misinformed about Obama and whoever voted in President Bush before him must have been misinformed as well. I think we keep getting misinformed to some degree. I'm with you if getting back to old values stands for flying our flag, displaying the cross, securing our borders, holding politicians, whilte collar workers and yes, Union folks too, responsible for their actions! Too many excuses for folks breaking the law, breaking their marriage vows, hurting their children or not raising them right.

I'm gonna vote republican, not because I believe things will necesarily turn around but why reward faliure? Why dig the hole deeper? I think there is anger in our country because folks who have been getting a free ride don't want to lose it, folks who work or worked hard and keep losing ground to higher gas and food prices are upset the system or government failed them. We have too many young folks either braindead from electronics, drugs or alcohol, or so busy with school work and sports they and their parents forgot what "Family time " means. Flux, we got a lot of ground to make up and I hope folks like you and abbott and my children get to live in a better America than this one. I am proud of my country but not proud of the fraud and apathy that has allowed our economy to slip away and enrich a communist superpower. While I'm hitting this keyboard trying to see what folks think, my wife is a few feet away watching tv, my daughters in college, life is good, but it's not sustainable given the facts.

Flux, how do we get honest politicians to run our country when they have all done so bad for so long? How do we get back to making what we consume so we employ Americans and keep more of our money in circulation here? These questions deserve more than a half full, half empty answer. This is not about mindset and attitude. We are talking about fixing an economy, country, society.
Heck, if we were gonna rebuild a car, we would have a plan, a parts list, yet our best minds have nothing! I can't believe Cain got on the view and said homosexuality is a choice! Even if he believed that why say it and mess your chances? Who will lead us, who has the answers, who will force the cutbacks and really have an answers about jobs? Yes, I was misinformed and mad last Presidential election. I'm not doing much better this time around but I sure as heck won't make the same mistake with Obama!!!

Remember that you and I, the people will never stop this train.

You just cannot stop what the masses continue to do.

You cannot influence an election. It's literally already decided before you start.

Just live as you are, worry about your own personal space and everything has a way of fixing itself, or breaking.

                            Question:

Are you better off than you was 4 years ago?

Im. Just a canadian that knows almost nothing about your politics and very little about ours. But from what i do know an econmy relies on people spending money and people making money, i do both i figure thats my contribution. But what we spend our money on i believe could actually make a difference. When i was young my mother was very consious about what she fed us organic, small farm small company local food. I never understood "as a child" why she would pay 10$ for a bag of small ugly apples when she could buy a bag of huge pretty apples for 5$ know im starting to get it and 15 20 years later even safeway has a huge organic and "green " isles all the soaps eggs everythings becoming healthier ect... Why are the chain stores caitering to these "healthier foods" because of people like my mom that would pay more for better local ect foods. Know its the same with our economy if people just stopped buying crap from china and continued to buy north american especially in a sluff economy like it is know companys would catch on and start producing more here. I think one family can make a difference but it starts with you, turns into you and your neighbour and a guy two states over. Before you know it it would begin to get better.. thanks seanny

It's really apparent that it's much easier to blame everybody else, slap labels, and dig in your heels. Some of you demand answers and yet you have no answers of your own. Others make accusations against the current President when in fact most of those accusations ring true to the opposing party. I have no idea what you all are thinking or where you get your facts or ideas.

This IS the problem with our country today! We are very much like Germany in the early 20's. Instead of seeing dominating Democrats and Communists and Unions and all the other things that the Republican right is pointing you towards... you should be broadening your reading and listening.

                                Flux,

You mentioned the old guy in your neighborhood who is a Democrat and I believe you alluded to something like his feeling are set on what the Democratic party used to be long ago. I don't think you are correct in that thought... I've never been a Democrat, but I know enough of their history to realise that they haven't changed nearly as much as the Republican party has. I've been a "Republican" since the first day I could vote (back then it was 21) and I would have been a Republican, if I could have voted at 18. I am most definitely a 1950's "Conservative", pro-military anti-communist.

But the Republican party is by no means the party that existed in the 50's or 60's or even the 70's. They are moving further and further to the right! For the first time in my life I voted Democrat in 2000! The lies and deceits that were being cast upon the uneducated masses of this country were ridiculously sad and the results of that were fully felt in the two terms that followed. We saw illegal immigration rise considerably, two wars that were micro-managed to the point where our military suffered beyond reason. We saw further benefits and encentives go to the rich, to pharmaceuticals, banks, and the oil companies. We saw environmental protection, OSHa, and hundreds of other regulatory branchs cut drastically, and we saw the most massive export of American jobs in this country's history. At the same time, we saw China surge forward with it's economy and millions of Americans loose thier jobs while all along, OUR government gave their employers tax breaks and encentives to carry on. AND... with it all, we saw the "Great Divider" alienate our allies and the people of our own country. We also saw a major collapse of our banking system and the exposure of what the Republican non-regulation tactics did to the working class and millions of mortgages, retirement accounts, and investments of the American people go down the drain.

In 2008 we elected a new government, one overwhelmingly Democratic... and instead of investigating and possibly prosecuting the many fraudulent schemes of the previous party, they in thier stupidity decided it was better to "heal" the country... Nancy got to push for her own jet, and the part on the whole reached for healthcare for the people. Nice thought on the Health care issue, but with no price controls... we now suffer the backlash of those of us who never question spending money for invation, but do march to the streets when it goes for giving the old lady across the street some medical security.

My point is that the "Division" that you speak of is not in the hands of the President, but in the hands of the Congress and their well-financed propaganda machine. But even there, that is a secret; thanks to the Republican dominated Supreme Court!

Bottom line for me, is it's time to move on, this is a terrible waste and there's much better things to do with my limited time.
