Well tomorrow I'm getting nose/sinus surgery to remove a cyst, some polyps, and I have cartilage leaning up against my septum. Both nostrils are going to be cleaned out, and I'm nervous as hell about being put under.

This doctor doesn't believe in "packing" afterwards...which people are telling me is a good thing. I have to be up tomorrow at 4:30am and will be out of work approximately 10 days as I will have splints in my nose.

Anyone have this done before? Any stories to share?

This is my reminder to myself that no good will ever come from discussing politics or religion with anyone, ever.

      Re: Surgery

I've had major surgeries since I was five years old, that was fifty three years ago! Back then the anesthesia was much the same as you see in old movies, stone age stuff. Today's advancement are amazing, they calculate your age, weight and safely put you under. You wake up shorty after the surgery in recovery and there is very little after effect to speak of. I'm sure you were told to expect some swelling and discomfort following the surgery, but you'll be taking medicine to offset all of that. I wish you the best and do yourself a favor, relax, this will all be behind you soon and you'll have a good story to share. Frank

Look on the brighter side - with a schnozz like that, a cocaine habit is not even remotely possible.

Prayers for a successful procedure and a speedy recovery!
