  • The President's Priorities

I heard President Obama mention immigration, climate change, and what amounted to a redistribution of wealth in his inaugural speech yesterday, but not much about our mounting massive debt, overspending or unemployment. If I had heard such a speech thirty years ago I would not have been as disturbed as I am today. Independent sources confirm that we cannot sustain such spending, so why is that not the President's number one concern? How is anything more important right now that the continued survival of our economy? None of the things the President mentioned are as urgent, as critical as our economy, am I wrong?

I felt pretty much the same Frank. Nothing about how we might heal the wounds and try to work together; nothing about helping American businesses and the people get back to work; how the government might help remove roadblocks to business.

    Very disappointing.

Honestly, I was expecting a hint of rational thinking amid the President's lofty agenda. Certainly his advisors must realize the urgency of our economic situation? Call me crazy but I was expecting some annoucement geared towards responsible behavior. Something along the lines of cutting spending, working to create jobs hand in hand with businesses so that people can rely less on entitlements. Go ahead and laugh, I deserve it.

Frank..if this was Hilary Clinton as President, I'd probably agree with you. She's a progressive...but she wouldn't be nearly as bad as this clown.

This clown has been surrounded by communist, socialist radicals all his life, so he doesn't know any better. He didn't have a chance the day he was born.

O please don`t talk about Obama like that he is a great man who is going to save me money when I buy a new suv later this year as the Aus dollar is now worth $1.05 to your one dollar saving me thousands of dollar compared to a couple of years ago I will be praying that Mr Obama continues to display his talent with your economy in the forseeable future and hope my dollar rises in valve

I wouldn't get too excited AFM. When we go down, everyone else goes down with us. The conspiracy theorists are correct; This is the agenda of the Illuminati to bring forth a one world currency and then a one world government. Obama is a bought and paid for puppet.

When the people fear the government there is tyrany.

The economy is fine, they just added 150,000 jobs. We are on the fast track now.

I agree with Tool... there doesn't seem like a lot we can do at this point until 2014. We can try to influence our representatives but they seem to be falling over like dominos. A slight majority of Citizens is now a mandate to "fundamentally change" our country. Balance of power is our only safeguard from driving full speed over the cliff. I just don't know how well that balance is working anymore. To many people can't think logically for themselves anymore. Way too many embracing this existential world view. "There is no absolute truth or concrete fact.. it is all relative to the individual." So no surprise we are throwing away logic and time tested responsible behavior.

Ok... I wasn't going to reply to this at all so I better stop before I get going ;-)

AND... well never mind! Actually the number of so-called "government jobs" is down I believe.

Unemployment numbers are up the economy is tanking, so let's not argue and accept the end is near. The government won't have time to take guns away from law abiding citizens. Oh, gasoline prices are also on the rise!
