ID:	17590Came across a rat rod someone has for sale locally.

47 IH pickup body with a 325HP 401 Nailhead motor and drivetrain out of a 61 Buick Wildcat.

Here's a couple grab shots with my cell.

My question is what's something like this worth and are there clubs, meets, etc for owners of these vehicles.

What kind of insurance headaches are there.

What about state inspections for emissions, safety, etc.

In Georgia, as long as it's still registered as a '47, it's exempt from any inspections. But it must be 'road worthy' (which is subject to local law as well as each law enforcement officer's own interpretation) or risk being ticketed.
What's it worth? Whatever the seller can convince someone to pay.
Around here, there's a hot rod club on every corner and a hot rod show/swap meet just about every weekend at one place or another.
As far as insurance goes, unless it's a really high-dollar ride, just get a quote for liability and uninsured motorist coverage from your regular insurance agency. For the high-dollar stuff, there are insurance companies that specialize in antique/classic/collectible autos.

What do you base your estimate on, do have one or know someone who does. These things are meant to look rough, hence the Rat Rod name. It's fully functional, is currently titled and tagged and has a current inspection.

I thought Tool would have chimed in on this by now, I thinkhe has or had one.

Yup, I think you are correct Rick. My bad. Yes, it has been a while since OSC has made his presence known. Hope he's doing OK.

How about it OSC, got your ears on good buddy? :-)

I haven't heard that in more years than I care to count.
