    a tapered cone washer in a plastic nut and bc shank shouldn't take much more than hand tightening to seal it. pretty much all the new bc slip nuts now have wings molded into them and no more hex type nuts. they don't require much more than a hand tightening.

    kohler for years had shanks that were cracking due to the factory overtightening the shank nut. took years to show up and and years to correct. just affected kohler as far as I know. their torque wrenches were out of calibration on their powered wrenches.

    look at an everyday hose connection. its a flat washer and is hand tight. doesn't matter if its brass hose bibb and hose connector. it's still a flat rubber washer.

      The plastic nut is the unnecessary cheapening of products increasing the potential for flooding. Period.
