I just saw this kid. Well, I retired when I was 48years old and made room for a younger guy instead of hanging on until the last possible minute. To answer your question, Yes! We are not immortal and put so much emphasis on our own lives that we disregard those around us. Is my life at 60 more important than a thrity year old guy with a wife and new child? No! There needs to be cutoffs based on all sorts of things. No one who has abused themselves with alcohol, drugs, smoking and too much dam food should get costly life saving treatments. Sorry, take better care of yourself! No one over age 65 gets any medical treatment, period. Give'em a lethal injection and send them packing. That gives me five years, if I'm lucky. Toughen up kid, none of us are getting out of here alive, so don't be selfish. Give the gift of life to someone who is young enough to use it and enjoy all that we have.

Yes, A law that tells me I must buy insurance (even if i don't want it or need it) so someone else can benefit. The next step may be; I have to buy transportation or housing.
It is not the Governments job to tell me how to spend my money. Socialism is won one ill conceived law at a time.

Would it be OK to take part of Bill Gates fortune (because he can't possibly spend it all) and give some to me because I barely made six figures last year?

No Frank wouldn`t put himself in harms way as he has been living high on the hog all his life pretending to be one of the boys where the rest of us worked into our sixties even though old bodies were worn out he retired at 48 he didn`t work for himself no he was and still is a uion man he worked for others where he didn`t have to gamble with life as many of us have done on this forum where he was entitled to a pension for life that he contributed bugger all to and a health plan for life that he begrudges anyone else having no Frank is a person that we should listen to a man who took the easy way in life he knew what side his bread was buttered on and he took it he is the type of person who would say and do anything and sacrifice whoever so he can continue along his merry way in life pretending to be to others the battler and laughing all the way at the people who beleave him

Not too clear on the don't need it. Until something happens I suppose you don't but how do you decide when the right moment is? Don't want it, I understand and that's a part of the reason why healthcare is so expensive. A whole lot of folks don't want it but they go to the emergency room when they get sick and let the taxpayer foot the bill. If everybody is actually paying into the system, costs will go down.

The government has been telling you how to spend your money since Washington. Register your car, inspect your car, pay your property taxes, pay for education, pay sales tax......"............"

This is complete fodder. As long as the government or an insurance company is administering the plan, costs will never go down. I went to an allergist and the Doc did some tests and prescribed some meds. He escorted me back to the reception desk and told the clerk to prepare a bill for $200. I said, Doc, I'm on my own dime here and without blinking he asked, Can you handle $50? I said yes and he took me back to his office and GAVE me samples of the meds he had prescribed. He said this will help with the costs. I paid my $50 office visit and have been going back since. He treats me right.

Thanks, that's why I don't respond to his posts. He could never do the work I did, not for a day, and certainly not for thirty years! There are guys who can retire but fear losing the routine. They fear growing old and death. They need to man up and make room for the younger guys who deserve a chance at a job and a family.

What does that have to do with ACA? Unless you are saying that big pharma can do the same for everyone.

What part of costs will never go down did you not understand? It has nothing to do with ACA or big pharma. There is no federally administered program alive that is cost efficient, productive or affordable, by the government or us.

This has been proven to be true a thousand times over NH.
When has anything gone down in costs when there is little to no competition & the demand is present or created? It hasn't!

I've personally seen multiple areas of state government that have been contracted out to the private/competitive sector. Know why? They always give similar results faster for less cost.

There is no reason to think that federal government wouldn't give similar results. Heck, the space shuttle program is shut down and now private entities are going into space for a fraction of the costs.

There are a lot of misconceptions about the ACA bill and furthermore there is a lot of speculation as to what might happen. As of. Now ACA is NOT set up as a single payer system. If you are covered by a health plan very few changes will effect you. These discussions would go a whole lot smoother if folks would read the law instead of parroting what they hear and read on the web. You are probably correct in believing that your out of pocket cost will not go down but it also won't increase as rapidly as it has in past years. For those of us on group plans, it's pretty much business as usual. What ACA does if give affordable insurance to folks that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it and to help to keep them from defaulting on medical bills that the taxpayer ultimately foots the bill for.
