  • A request for assistance

Today being World Toilet Day, my daughter, who is presently running an NGO (non government organization) assistance office in Siem Reap, Cambodia thought it an appropriate time to launch a fundraiser for her sanitation project.
Only 12% of the families in the commune of 10,000, where her organization works, have access to toilets. That means 88% are forced to do their business outside and diarrheal disease is still the #1 killer of children under the age of 5 in Cambodia. So to do their part, their newest initiative - the construction of latrines - was born.
It costs $250 to provide a new latrines for a family. This includes materials for an outhouse, tippy tap & soap, educational hygiene workshops and provisions for repair and pumping in the future.
Their goal is to build 100 latrines in 2014.
Whatever you can give will be gratefully received.
    Here's her blog
Adventures of a Dandelion : Flushing for Cash - A Quest for Latrines
    and her organization's website
Welcome to Cambodian Child's Dream Organization (CCDO)

Alright you jackazzes. This person is trying to help others. Read her blog and what she's trying to do. If you're in the business and educated about it, you know it's more than about the latest tankless.

You will unwittingly waste $10.00 this week. Throw it her way instead. More if so inclined.

        I'm in.

No. I'm afraid I've moved on. However, I still consider a friend in the business. Why do you ask?

Looks like we may get a little more mileage out of this. At least, I hope so.
