    My rigid drill chuck occasionally falls out . Any tips on preventing that

    Get out your owners manual and reread the installation instruction for the chuck and the quill. After you have reinstalled the quill, OPEN the chuck ALL the way. With the power off, place a board on the table and lower the quill down to the board. When the chuck touches the board give the handle a fairly hard tug downward. This should help to fully seat the quill. Remember, all of this should be done with the drill press turned OFF .

      Mark,

      Also clean both the table on the chuck and the taper on the spindle really well. Any oil or foriegn material in there at all will keep the taper from seating properly.
