Enables Tapping of Pressurized Lines In Tight Quarters

ELYRIA, OH - August 2000 - Ridge Tool Company is introducing its new RIDGID® RT-1000 Mini-Tapping Tool for running branches on pressurized lines. Ideal for jobs in tight quarters in industrial settings, the mini-tapping tool is designed for use on water lines up to 150 psi, and steam, air and natural gas lines up to 100 psi.

The RT-1000 mini-tapping tool allows contractors and utility technicians to add 3/4" to 1" branch lines while a line is under pressure. Weighing only 5 lbs. and measuring 15" in length, the compact and lightweight tool is built rugged to withstand harsh use. It can be used on various types of pipe material including steel, copper, cast iron, ductile iron and PVC.

Operated manually or by power, the RT-1000 mini-tapping tool is mounted on to the pipe with a saddle and valve. Application-specific cutters are available for most piping materials. An Acme threaded feed eliminates any back pressure once the cut is made, and a coupon-retaining bit prevents the extracted material from dropping into the main line. The tool's independent feed and cutter rotation offers the user control of the operation for extended cutter life.

An RT-1000 Mini-Tapping Tool copper tube size (CTS) set is available packaged in a tool box containing the tapping tool, ratchet wrench, heavy-duty arbor, two spud wrenches and 3/4" and 1" valve adapters. Optional male and female adapters are available for most common NPT/BSPT and waterworks applications.

The RT-1000 carries a lifetime warranty from the Ridge Tool Company.
