The number one killer of Monarchies, Dictatorships, Marxist and socialist governments it education. As soon as a government mandates that its citizens be educated, the end is around the corner. It wasn't Reagan or the cold war that ended the Soviet Union. It was the Soviet Unions insistence on sending its citizens to college. An educated man will not stand still for a collar around his neck.

Nice thoughts NHM, and I hope things work out for the people of communist china. What can be said of the educated men of our country who while in positions of political power stood by and did nothing to stop the loss of revenue paying companies and good paying American jobs? What's your take on those educated men who had no foresight of the repercussions of all that loss or what industries and jobs would take their place?
Regardless of what happens in communist china, we still have an economy in turmoil with no plan to turn things around. Plenty of educated. able bodied men and women here with no jobs and no hope. I think things are seriously in need of attention and resolution.

Well now you have to question what passes for education in this country in the past seventy five years don't you.

Here's a hypothesis for you. Given that an educated man will not stand for a collar around his neck, do you suppose that the socialist leaning of this nation proposed to be by conservatives, is a result of the lack of proper education over the past few decades? IOW, folks are getting stupider while the smart ones left, take over the zoo

I keep telling you Frankie that what we need is a big project. Something costing trillions and taking a half century or more to attain. Something that keeps engineers, architects, scientists, welders, plumbers, carpenters....everyone busy. A gigantic colossal project.

NHM, learned politicians from both sides of the aisle share the blame for where we are and where we are headed! No such futuristic plan has been suggested to my knowledge, nor could it be approved and funded given the present split by our legislators. I can't even begin to wrap my head around where the focus on correcting our economy would have to start at this late date. Could the hemorrhage of funds going to support all the entitlements continue while the trade deficit goes unaddressed? Is the 17 plus trillion deficit a nonissue, or any less important than the absence of new jobs to employ the millions out of work? Sorry NHM, the problems are far too massive for any "New Deal". I repeat, WE ARE DOOMED!

When you guys mention Islamic it is interesting to note that as tolerant as you are you still maintain that it is them who should change, not you. Unfortunately not every country is the same. China is already under stress from the younger generation that has been sent away to other more affluent countries for education. They have many things that they like and now want. Going to be interesting but I reckon it will be later than sooner unfortunately.

When it comes to religious genocide I believe a short history lesson might be in order. But.....talk about severe thread drift LOL

                  • #26
No history lesson necessary NHM, pretty sure most are aware of the torture, death and destruction attributed to Christianity. That said, it does not excuse similar or worse behavior by current day intolerant religious extremists. Do you really believe we must pay for the sins of the past until the score is even, or close? If so, I disagree.

It doesn't matter what I think. It's what they think that's running the show.

                  • #27
NHM, what you think as an American does matter. They are not running the show, not yet. You either think they are intolerant, murderers, or you think they are justified in their beliefs and behaviors? You are entitled to your opinions so if you think we are deserving of what the terrorists have done and the push to institute sharia law in our country, just say so.

Deserving? Well I guess that depends on your definition of the word. A study of the history of western involvement in that region over the past hundred or so years should enlighten folks but unfortunately most are not willing to take the time to understand the reasons why those folks are waging war. You say they are not running the show. We have poured billions of dollars and thousands of American lives into a war we will never win. It is the purest definition of the word insanity.

We are not immune and apparently neither is the rest of the world but how long can we fight an un winnable war and how many lives will we give? I don't have an answer either and when push comes to shove it all comes down to which side has the stronger will.
