  • Landline phone interface to cell phone

-or- is that cell phone interface to landline?

I have Century Link landline..... service has deteriorated it can take 7-10 days for a service tech!

Do any of you use a device to interface your cell phone to allow you to still use your home
    internal telephone system?
I have telephone jacks and telephones in most rooms and I do not want to lose that ability.
I also do not want to have to carry a cell phone with me 24/7

If your do have such a device let me know.

Interesting question that I don't have an answer to. I like having the landline (just because I've always had one, and I'm still living in the 20th Century mentally.) Up until this past spring, I've had a 'pay-as-go' phone, which cost me only a $100 a year. POS though and not enough to do anything except make call when necessary. I replaced that with a Google Pixel 6 Pro, which I really like, but am still learning.

So at the moment, it's a matter of using the land-line when I'm home and taking the cell when I'm out of the house and that's the only time when the cell is turned on. My son finds that annoying, but then of course he's much more into the technology than I am.

I have a Panasonic phone system that connects to my cell. It has 3 handsets but they sell versions with 5 maybe 6 handsets. It can actually connect to 2 cell phones so you could have your phone and your Wife's phone both connected and it will tell you which phone is ringing on each handset or you can designate specific handsets to each cell number. Has voice mail and many other features. I got it at Costco about 5 years ago. Np problems in all that time but I will admit we don't use it all the time either. Too lazy I guess. :-(

          A quick update.
My telephone returned to normal operation July 29, 2021. the landline failed July 21, 2022.
I was not informed by Century Link.. I just happened to pick up the headset and behold
          a dial tone!

The technician never entered my property. they worked on my issue at a large junction box
After 1 1/2 hours of no show a technician drove up to the house and gave me an update
that they found a broken wire! A different repair team will address it in a few days. WHAT?

The problem was verified to be Century Link's problem.
So I went a week without any political phone calls or people wanting to sell me carpet or windows.
I will not receive any non use time credit.

This is the second time my landline had a broken wire. The last time was April 2022, and it
also took a week to get service.

I miss the old Western Electric Ma Bell monopoly... back then everything always worked
and service when needed was within 2 days!

I also miss analog TV.... When you change the channel the picture is immediate.
With digital TV the set needs to collect all the ones and zeros to display the picture a 2-4 second delay!

When the weather is bad you still receive analog TV digital TV drops out.

There is no over the air analog TV broadcast anymore, that all went away a few years ago. OTA TV is all digital.
