Close, but normally this type of a Fireman's Axe <aka> Pick-Axe is for busting into a burning house or busting your way out. They are used on buses to help people get out fast if on fire. One would be handy for camping too, but I like the ones with a flat butt end for such. I should add this this style comes with a 30-36 inch long handle and the head is around 5-6 pounds. I think that would be a bit much to take along camping if you needed to carry it very far.

I was close but no cigar. My dad had one and used it around the fire place when I was just a young pup. My wife walked up when I was typing the first one and asked why I was checking out a pick axe, I just smiled, she does know tools too, she grew up on a farm, yet married a city slicker.

I would have to say my Jeep. Any construction power tool I use is for work, not pleasure, so favorites, none. They lost their entertainment value for me long ago.

            Ryobi 18 volt spiral saw.

If I just chose the tool I use the most it would have to be a cordless drill but there are plenty of them around.

The cordless high speed spiral saw is a little more unique.

            I've used it to...

            ...cut outlet holes in drywall.

...route a channel in wood for wires.

...grind a slot in a keyed lugnuts for a vehicle that the owner had lost the key for.

            ...polish a watch.

...remove plastic from an RC car's chassis.

            ...clean rust off a tool.

            ...sharpen an axe.

It isn't perfect. The switch is a little to easy to bump on...but it has paid for itself 20 fold.

Chainsaw. Much as I enjoy all my power tools, there is something about the power, need to control it safely and visual accomplishment from using a chainsaw that makes it my favorite power tool. A close second would be circular saw ( corded or cordless) and hammer/drill, because of the extreme amount of time and work and wear and tear on the body, these tools are appreciated.
