  • Big Kitchen Upgrade

I finally bit the bullet and bought new appliances as well as hiring someone to put in an island and new counter tops as well as rework some of the cabinets. I havent had a dishwasher or disposal for the last 5 years. It'll be nice to be a little bit lazier .

I will end up restaining all the cabinets I stripped as well as redoing the floors with tile.

Hopefully all the projects will be done before the baby gets here in November (will be our first)

Only after November will you realize there is no such thing as "lazy". And then when you actually do get a full nights sleep, your baby and alarm clock compete in waking you up every morning

Then your life will be turned upside down and you won't have the time to work on things for a while. It gets better when they get to be around 3-6 months. My son doesn't cry much but will laugh at anything now.

A torn up kitchen and a pregnant wife............... are you nuts? Once you get those island and countertop guys out from underfoot, you better have those cabinets stained and that floor done in a weeks time or you'll never live to see November.

        Kitchen work

        Hey Josh,
Congrats on the upcoming baby event. And good luck with the kitchen. As another Badger State resident, I agree with Badger Dave that you better get your arse in gear and get the floor and cabinet work done asap. Once that baby arrives, you will have little time for yourself or work around the house. It's amazing, (but fun and worth it) to devote as much time to child (or kids) as is needed, but the free hours will be much less than you think. So enjoy the time with them that you have, because all too soon, they will be off to college. Trust me, our last one goes to college this August, and it just seems like yesterday that she was crawling on the floor.

Good luck with the project Josh. I did similar while my wife was pregnant (only the floor was already tiled!). Then after the baby was born I used the available "nap times" to build an outdoor BBQ with wet bar. Not an easy task and I must admit my son was 6 months old before I finally got it done. But I got a lot done during the 2-week "paternity leave" my company offered me at the time! (wife wasn't sure that is what it was supposed to be used for, but it somehow ended up that way ). We have #2 coming in December so I'll have to find a new project now!

HVAC, it was 102 degrees here today. I had to switch from the Evap to the A/C just to keep up. My wife isn't even that far along yet....
            Still enjoying all 10 fingers!
