  • last Ridgid product I buy

So I come to find out that my sp-330d sump pump with lifetime warranty has a bad diaphram switch after 2 years of seldom operating. Today, support tells me that the switch should be changed every two years to keep the warranty active. A 68.00 switch after two years! My last sump and switch lasted over 20 years without a problem. Also my sump pump is not easy to remove as I have it sealed for my Radon mitigation system. EVERY TWO YEARS???? DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT BUY A RIDGID PUMP. OBVIOUSLY SOME A-HOLE FIGURED OUT A WAY TO BURN THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR 68.00 EVERY TWO YEARS....IT'S 2008, I THINK WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE TO CREATE A LONGER LASTING PUMP SWITCH.
I HOPE THEY'RE HAPPY NOW, I ESTIMATE THAT I WILL TELL OVER 50 PEOPLE ABOUT THIS TRICK AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO DO THE SAME.
They might as well have their crap made in China...make even more money!
    Maybe they do?????????

since i've never seen a ridgid pump, they're not sold here?

i can't believe they would need service every 2 years

the pumps i use have a float that lifts a horizontal rod.

i don't use the diaphragm switch or a tether switch to hang up either. only on the larger pits with multiple pumps and controllers will i use the tether switches.

i'll look it up myself to get a real opinion on this.

i read the owners manual and found 2 things of interest

first one is an installation procedure

        (Model SP-330D Diaphragm Switch only)
        4. Remove the two fasteners in the cast iron volute
near the discharge area. Align the hole with the
diaphragm switch and replace the fasteners without
        over tightening.

second one is listed on page 6 and is clearly listed. i can't believe it's every 2 years, but that's what it states

        Suggested Part Replacement Schedule
Replace pump switch every 2 years. See page 7 for
        Ridgid cat. #.
Replace float every 2 years. See page 7 for Ridgid cat.

My take: as long as it says "suggested" and not "required" then LLAS should cover.

Of course, no idea how it is written in the sump pump manual .

Sump pumps are not included in the LLSA Program nor are the wet/dry vacs and any other Ridgid product that isn't made by OWT/TTI.
