I don't take much offence to much. It was just bad communication on my part.
    Thanks folks
    I apologize.

Yeah, I did. That's what's frustrating me. But, now that I think back, we were just firing nails into a 4x4, and the depth-of-drive setting was cranked all the way up to 6, I think. I never really "tested" it by doing what I did with actually assembling some trim to some wood, and firing lots of nails.

But, I still am tempted to give it yet another chance with another gun, to see if this is a glitch.

Yeah, I'm that way too. Keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results

I appreciate the thread and the feedback. I've sent it to the product development people for evaluation.

Uhhhhh....yup. But, a few points on this (you opened up to it, so I'm taking the shots, Hawk) :
                1. Our air is better.
                2. Our beer is better, too. x 2
                3. Yup, I got it in the USA because it's only available there right now. So????????? x 3
                4. Uhhh, Hawk? It's a "cordless" "battery-operated" tool - the type of "air" doesn't matter.

So, it's been returned. I took a day trip over to Michigan on Monday, and went to one of my HD haunts. I think I kind of frustrated the girl doing the returns. I walked in there to do a return/exchange, and went over to the tool department. I brought my own fully-charged battery in with me, and brought a 50-stick of nails, along with two small 8" or so pieces of wood trim and 2x4. I got a young kid to help me grab one of the nailers from in the overhead, loaded it up, and tested it out. Exact same thing. I noticed that the two nailers both had all the same issues, from the heavily marked-up charcoal-grey rubber overmolding, to the lack of true consistency from shot to shot. I got roughly the same variance of 1/8" either way. I noticed that the production code on this nailer was slightly different from the one I was returning - sorry, I didn't write the exact code down (should have, now that I'm thinking of it), but they were both with the same lettering code (GS or something like that), and with an 0912/0918 range of manufacture date.

So, I said to the kid, thanks a bunch for your help, but I'll pass. I went to the returns desk, and I told the girl, sorry, but I won't be exchanging, I'll be completely returning my nailer instead. I wish it was better - the nailer, the situation, everything.

I bought the spiker and 16 G finsh nailer from Paslode, the gas is an extra expence but one worth paying for. The quality and consistanticy I have gotten from both of them has been very happy experance to date with zero problems.
