      Re: PEX-Cinch Clamps VS Rings

I use copper crimp rings and Rehau pipe. I have never had a proper crimp leak....EVER. I been using the copper crimp rings since the pipe hit the market here in the early 90's. Some of my installs are approaching 20 years old and still working fine.

i'm the only guy in my shop that uses the copper crimp rings, everyone else uses the cinch clamps or the newer zurn style
No, it's not rocket science, it's plumbing and unlike rocket science it requires a license.

Do you guys like the rings since you can keep tabs with the go no go gauge ? And adjust your own tool and not have to send it away ? What about keeping that ring in the right spot while getting the tool around it?

I give the ring a slight squeeze with the slip joint pliers before before crimping to keep the ring in the right place. I use the crimp ring, never even done a cinch ring before.

As for pex though I use Uponor Propex with the EP fittings. I like the system better than the crimp style.

I've adjusted my crimp tools once in the last 15 years...its not like it should be an everyday thing. Copper crimp ring method.

Crimp as you go. If you don't your asking for trouble.
