  • Anti-water hammer tubes?

I'm not sure what the correct terms is for the 2 vertical capped pipes but are they still necessary when I install a new bath/shower valve?

The new faucet is Kohler Fairfax (“pressure-balancing”) bath/shower faucet.

My washer/dryer and water heater are within 10’ of this bath if it’s pertinent.

the purpose of those air chambers were to absorb water hammer.

i don't remember the last time i've put them in. ther are better commercially avaliable anti hammer nitrogen filled chambers avaliable that attach to a laundry valve if needed.

it can't hurt, but i wouldn't do it

I agree with Rick. If it turns out you need them to stop a water hammer add a couple of water hammer arrestors exposed at your laundry.

          Agree with Utah.

          Also,

Whoever installed those air chambers did a pretty half-assed job.
