    a couple dumb questions from a millwright who should know

    do i need a special die for threading stainless pipe?


    can i get just the dies for my old ridgid tool holder?

    do you if i can get them in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada?

    There are dies specifically for stainless steel.

        As instructed above use dies for SS. But I would add:

        Use a lot of teflon tape, and a teflon based pipe dope.

        Measure and cut your pipe correctly because SS has little to no give. In other words, you can't tighten it up and then "schosh-it" another half turn to align it. When it's tight it's tight.

        In conclusion, I've worked with it alot and it's a pain in the ***.

          A few more things use a cutter that only touched stainless steel same for the die heads.

            use ridgid high-speed pipe dies together with ridgid threading oil for stainless steel..
