    and DOG a farmer has about three dozen areas to put money, no jsut one area such as into a single trade such as plumbing,

    a farmer is a mechanic, a plumber, a carpenter, a welder, heavy equipment operator, an agronomist, a veterinarian, range (grass) specialist, a grain storage specialist, and so on,
    most have earned less than min wage and yet has to handle hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in expenses, and to make ends meet they repair things not replace, items,

    And unlike you who set the price you work for they are told on how much they will get out of a bushel of grain or animal and that price changes ever day. and in grains there has not been any real increases in price in 30+years, (since NIXON devalued the dollar), and yet they still provide grain, meat, and fiber for the people of this country and the world.

    the price of equipment since early 1970's has gone up ten fold, the price of fuel has gone up ten fold, the price of tools, the price of fertilizer, the price of seed, the price of nearly everything but the price of grain, and yet they do on early 1970's income.

    so because you jsut want to replace your jaws on your wrenches may be others don't.
    And you can jsut pass the cost on to your customer, he can't pass the cost on.

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    and he asked how to dress the teeth on the jaws not how to replace them,
    and since I have dressed the teeth on pipe wrenches in the past, in my machine shop, (note: I also farm), I thought I would pass the information on.
    IF he screws them up then he can replace them. if not for about 30 seconds of work he can have a good biting wrench again,
    Then he can tighten his disk gangs again and pull his wells, and fix the other items he needs to fix, with the tools he has, and if the moment comes by he can even tighten or loosen some pipes, with them.
    BHD,
    Next to "The Honeymooners" and "The Andy Griffith Show" my favorite sitcom is "Green Acres" (although "Leave It To Beaver" would be a contender) . Those who are fans of the show would have to admit that you do a great impersonation of Oliver Douglas. You are only missing the fifes.
    Beautiful. I love the memory.
