    most pipe dopes are not approved for plastic. a teflon based dope usually is approved for plastic. the beveled 1.5'' and 1.25'' x 1.5'' slip joint washers don't require any kind of dope or sealant. i like them much better thn the rubber s.j. washers and they last a lot longer too.

      Yeah, I realize the bevel washers don't require an additional sealant, but like with threaded connections, a lot of plumbers use both tape and dope, which isn't required. I guess my question is if anyone has seen a problem with plumber's putty reacting with the plastic?
