  • vitreous china vs fireclay sinks

can someone tell me if there is a difference in vitreous china vs fireclay sinks and if so, which is better?

Would fireclay hold up as well as a stainless sink?

Re: vitreous china vs fireclay sinks

Fireclay kitchen sinks, are made of porcelain that is thicker, denser and heavier than the regular china clay. Due to these characteristics fireclay kitchen sinks are more durable and smooth than the ordinary vitreous china.

Stainless steel kitchen sinks are corrosion resistant. Stainless steel kitchen sinks are usually made with high gauge stainless steel for making them dent- resistant. They are very easy to maintain compared to other stone or ceramic kitchen sinks.

    Hope this answers your question

not to hi-jack the thread but

are stainless steel sinks made with sheet metal thicker than 18Ga (.05 inches)?

for comparison, 1/16th of an inch = .06 inches
