In any case, the old 3/4 cable is gone.... From what I've read, it seems most pros use 3/4" cable in their main-line machines, but I'm trying to decide if I can get by with a 5/8" cable... suggestions???

the one advantage to 5/8'' is that you can get all 125' into the 750 drum. 100' of 3/4''.

as long as you're only doing 3'', 4'' and some 6'' on a preventative basis. you should be fine. the cost savings and weight savings will be an advantage to some degree.

we use 3/4'' since we come up to some nasty stoppages. in fact i recently moved up to 1.25'' sectional cable.

keep that cable well oiled so it will last a lifetime.
