      1 1/2" is rarely installed in new structures anymore out here.The law of supply and demand make it less expensive to run 2".Sometimes we will repair the old with the same.Oh yeah,if it is a job where they want to throw away money they will spec 1-1/2 and pay us the extra after they are informed that 2" is cheaper and they still want it.

        mark brought up a good point, noise issues, I can sit in my house and when the upstairs toilet flushes, I hear the water running down the drain.

        if I had millions of dollars I would not approve of this at all

          A lot of the people who get cast iron installed their homes are hardly millionaires.

          It's not that much of a cost increase for a person building a house.Even if it is a 2 bath 2 story ranch house.
