  • No 2" cast iron

I've never seen cast iron smaller than 3" here in the states. I know it's made as I installed it in Okinawa but just never seen it here. For 2" lines here, they will use galvanized.

      Gear Junkie,
We use it all the time up here in New England. Use 2" and 11/2" underground but usually switch to DWV copper once above the basement or slab.

Use 1 1/2 DWV to stub out for lav drains, etc. Also will use 2" DWV for venting. There is still a 3" - 4" Cast Iron main stack but branches can be copper.

I'm talking about houses I've been at. Just haven't seen 2" CI anywhere.

All right, so it's settled, galvanized drain lines will always have a place in Virginia Beach.

See alot of 2in cast for kitchen sinks, specially in Phila. Also see galvanized, copper, and lead. Starting to see HDP to now.

                        Ben,

You need to get out more. In a lot of custom homes you are only allowed cast iron above the first floor due to noise issues.

We probably have 300' or so of 2"CI on the rack at any one time. Very common in new england. Have it both straight lengths and bell and spigot.

We have plenty of 2" Cast iron here in VA. Every supply house stocks it.

We use it in commercial every day.

Not sure what this topic is about.

In houses anymore, you only see 3" C.I. for stacks cause of noise. No need for 2" in a house.
