  • toilet drain mystery??

Bathtub was backing up and toilet flushing slowly. Used cleaners, etc.. Bathtub, right next to toilet, seemed to drain fine - most of time. you could run water for five minutes and no back-up. Then back-up. Next time no back-up. Toilet still drained slow.
Brought out pro who used toilet auger, broke rubber saddle loose on toilet drain line underneath floor and used auger there but no electric snake. Bathtub seemed to drain fine. Toilet still ran slow. Pro declared "it's the toilet. It's bad."
New toilet put in. Same thing happened.
Stack was filled with leaves but that was cleaned out with hose - as best we can tell cleaned out - before new toilet was installed.
    Any ideas?
    4-year-old and 7-year-old in house.

This guy was not a pro but a hack and stole your money. You need to have a real plumber come out.

Find a company that does video inspections of sewer lines. That could rule what it could be and what it is.

Almost sounds like you have a soft clog in the branch line, or a partial clog further out in the line

The question is though why the bathtub would seem to drain fine but the new toilet would start running slow after he second flush?

i agree with the clog further down the line/branch. also i reckon it might still be a vent issue. when you flush the ole john hows the vortex in the bowl? if the vortex is good the vent is working good if its a lil sluggish the vent needs be adressed. but a video camera snake would be a gooder if you wanna see whats actually down the line
