  • Dishwasher Vent

I have had new granite counter tops installed and am wondering about the
vent for the dishwasher. Is there an alternative to having the vent installed on the countertop. The dishwasher is a new model.
    Any help is appreciated.

It probably has a loop already built into the dishwasher.

Just make a high loop vent inside the cabinet where the plumbing to the sink is at.

Or, you could install a air gap, and install it all the way up in the corner, either left or right depending on what side of the cabinet the dishwasher is on.

I believe Washington uses the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code which requires a dishwasher air gap. There was a time when you could use a Johnson Tee instead of the counter mount air gap but they let there IAPMO approval laspe recently.
